Krylon and Thomas Kinkade

Today's Ways To Use It challenge on SCS was perfect for me today for a number of reasons.

1. Sharon, at Krylon, sent me some fabulous product to try...so I had to!
Thank YOU Sharon!! 2. Tearing paper....how much easier can it get!

3. I have these gorgeous Thomas Kinkade papers.

4. I don't have a lot of stamping time...(Lloyd thinks I need to spend every waking moment doing something with peaches...remember the peach tree? yes, still lots to put up!!)!
I took the piece of Tawny cardstock and sprayed it with Make It Stone. It's fairly dry in 15 minutes, easy enough to handle in about 30. Around the edge of the scene, I masked it using a piece of torn copy paper just smaller than the scene and sprayed it with Make It Suede. You just can't get the full effect here...but it's soooo cool!
I also took my Stardust gel pen and added some sparkle to the windows and campfire.

Easy peasy! Stamp the sentiment, add some brads and this baby is done!

Did I mention the pear tree thought it had to out do the peach tree? Yes, lots of them too!!

Ok, I'm off to do 'something' with peaches...right now cobbler sounds good!

Thanks for stopping!

Do You Have A Favorite Product?

This week the Challenge Chicks are using their favorite CHF product. Do you know how hard it was to pick I have so many I use daily! But I settled on Leafing and Gel Pens.

I hope you'll be able to see the White and Stardust gel pens, it was hard to get a good picture!
I'll start with the Thomas Kinkade ornament using the
Christmas Series Paper Pack. Talk about a quick decoration! I think I'll hang this on my back door.

I used my Sakura White Gel pen to enhance the snow on the Snowman's hat and arm, the porch railing, bushes and the trees.
The Sakura Stardust pen added fabulous frosty windows and shiny tree lights.
A Krylon Gold Leafing pen was used around the edge.

I used 'Welcome' and only inked up 'Friends' (forever friends) from Classic Essential Expressions to finish off my cute decoration!

I can't wait to see what the rest of the girls did with their favorites! I always learn something and get some fresh ideas
I'll have links at the end of this post so you can blog hop.

My second project is using Sandra Kuck's, Ready For Christmas. This tree just calls for gel pens! Once again I'm afraid you can't see the bling from the Stardust pen and the White gel pen on the pearls and the eyelet trim on her dress.

I like her in blue too! All colored with Prismacolor pencils blended using a colorless blending pencil. You'll just have to use your imagination, each light or glowing spot has Stardust pen on it. I used it on the ornaments on the sentiment from Christmas Expressions too.

Again I used my Krylon Gold Leafing pen to edge the ovals...it just adds so much!

Ok...are you ready for this blog list? It's a FULL one!!

Kinkade Mugs

Every year at Christmas, Wal Mart has Thomas Kinkade gift sets. These mugs are filled with a box of tea, cookies and a rock candy swizzle stick. I have quite a collection and couldn't pass this one up!
It's the Forest Chapel which I just happened to have the stamp *wink*.
The card was done for the Limited Supply Challenge on SCS
* making cards with a white base...
* add a couple of smaller layers of colored cardstock
* stamp as desired* add a little ribbon (or an embellishment of your choice)
* maybe add some piercing or a punch or 2
And voila... you have an easy quick white based card!
  • I stamped the TK image from Cornish Heritage Farms with versamark then covered it with Ranger seafoam white embossing powder and heated with my heat tool.
  • Next I used my handy dandy jumbo dauber and sponged Ranger distress broken china over the entire image, the embossing resisted the ink allowing it to color the open areas. When I was satisfied with the look, I took a cloth and wiped any excess ink off the embossed parts.
  • Using my Spellbinders Nestabilities oval dies, I then cut the ovals to the sizes I wanted.
  • The cuttlebugged snowflake layer is popped up on dimensionals and is actually the original piece that the Chapel was stamped, colored and cut from! Just flipped that baby, cut it down and bugged it! No waste! *wink*
  • The Prism cardstock matched perfectly as did the ribbon I happened to have.
All in all it was a very quick card to put together that has the "elegant, I spent a lot of time on this" look!

Floating Fisherman

Keri did this cool technique yesterday for Cornish Heritage Farms, Magic Floating Ornaments
I stamped and colored the Thomas Kinkade, "It Doesn't Get Much Better" with copics twice...as the floating square turns, the image is on both sides.
Spellbinders Nestabilities scallops and squares, some fishing line from the tackle box (wanted a lure for the bottom, but didn't know which one I'd be allowed to snatch!), a swirly clip and beads.
Lots of possibilities here!

Wed Sketch Challenge on SCS

Rox asked me to do a card for the Sketch Challenge this week on SCS. She comes up with the greatest sketches!! This one is no exception.

I chose this Thomas Kinkade, Forest Chapel, that I recently got from Cornish Heritage Farms. Stamped with Versafine sepia, I started coloring with copics and finished off with prismacolor pencils. For me at least, I find the prismas work better on the TK images. I added some white gel pen on the flowers and water.

The sentiment is from the set Scripty Words, also from CHF. While trying to figure out a what to layer it on, I came upon this dp in my DCWV mat stack "Enchanted"...it was perfect!

So, I had to do another card right?! This is an image Amber just got from High Hopes. (they have the cutest images!!)

Colored with copics, cuttelbugged the background and voila! done!

Unique Brads

This was Julia's Ways to Use It challenge on SCS...not just any brads, they had to be unique. Wouldn't you know I didn't have any in my stashPhoto Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket so I had to make a 'faux' one!

I punched 5 circles from the Deja View dp and glued them together. I attached a teeny piece of double sided tape to the back and stuck it on the end of a pencil...this gave me something to hold on to when I applied the Matte Accents by Ranger. Before it was totally dry I pressed it into the Tulle backgrounder from CHF.

I colored Thomas Kinkade's Skater's Pond from CHF with copics and prismas. I used a Sakura white gel pen and Stardust gel pen for the snow and accents. Wish you could see the sparkle! The tree lights are Marvy embossable markers with clear ep. I used a Zig embossing pen for the pond and a layer of clear ep. Distressed the edges and sponged Ranger Distress inks: old paper, vintage photo, walnut stain.

Now, don't tell my husband that I used my sewing machine Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket(he surprised me 30 yrs ago, paid $700 for it and just wouldn't understand!!)...I did find out most of my zigzag's and cams don't work like they're suppose to!! fiddle...

Cammie, on SCS makes these easel cards and I've wanted to try one for a long time! The Spellbinders ovals are attached to the separate front and back.

Cracked glass was today's Technique challenge on Splitcoast, and it's one of my favorite techniques! I water colored this Thomas Kinkade, The Light of Peace from Cornish Heritage Farms ,
with Adirondack reinkers. I gave it 2 coats of UTEE, let it cool and cracked it.

End Of Summer

I was talking with a friend last night, somewhat new to stamping, and was telling her about the Thomas Kinkade stamps at . She'd never seen them, so what better way than to make her a card!

I colored the image with prismacolor pencils blending with baby oil, hoping to acheive a late summer-early fall look. 3 coats of UTEE for the cracked glass, which of course makes it hard to get a picture because of the glare!

The background is the new Wood grain backgrounder from CHF, stamped in both directions and sponged with Tim Holtz distress inks, old photo and walnut stain.
