OWH Midweek Throwdown…Red White & Blue!

Our Daily Bread designs, Operation Write Home

Another card for my Operation Write Home stash! I need to pack them up and get them sent off!

This is Our Daily Bread designs, To the Lovebirds with matching Bird Cage and Banner dies and Banner Sentiments.

Several challenges rolled up into this card… the color and sketch challenge on Splitcoast and the OWH Midweek Throwdown is also a color challenge!

I thought this would work for either a guy or gal to send home to their sweetie as a ‘just because’ or anniversary….even birthday works!

Our Daily Bread designs, Operation Write Home

You can see I stamped the backside of the birdcage also, so when the doors are open you still see the cage wires. Had I been REALLY trying to make it look like the inside of the cage, I would have lightly stamped the cage then the birds over…. dang! Now I’m wishing I would have done that!!

Oh well….guess that means I need to make another card another day and do just that!!

Our Daily Bread designs, Operation Write Home

Have a fun 4th of July!!
Stay safe! Enjoy those fireworks!!

This Is Just To Die For! #133… A Sassy Challenge!

Sassy Cheryl's Sassy Sally

Are you ready for another Sassy Challenge? This was a fun one, if I do say so myself…

Using Dies!

I’m the challenge hostess again this week and you know how much I love my dies! One or a handful… doesn’t matter!

Sassy Cheryl's Sassy Sally

There’s a real chill in the air this week, feeling really Fallish, plus I just got this new Spellbinders Fall Foliage and hadn’t even opened it yet! They just seemed to go hand in hand with Sassy Sally and Her Autumn Leaves!

This is my absolute favorite time of year, the colors, the crunch of the leaves as you walk along… dressing in layers, the crispness and aroma in the air… I could go on…………………… you get the picture!

So, I colored Sally with Copics, sponged some clouds with my homemade cloud template and cut her out using Spellbinders Labels 17, which I edged with a Copic to match her clothes.

The leaves are a combination of  Glimmer Mist {yellow daisy, honey dew, copper, starfish} and Distress inks {stormy sky, spiced marmalade, bundled sage}

The dp is DCWV Amber Autumn, the sentiment is ODBD Be Joyful.

Variety! A Sketch, Technique, Tutorial and OWH Mid-Week Throwdown Challenge

SC402blk

Sometimes you just get on a roll, creatively speaking and crank out some cards!! At least I did, two this morning and one that I had started and finished up!

I’ll start with the one I had started on Monday… I needed a sympathy card for a friend that lost his wife quite quickly and unexpectedly.

Those are always the difficult ones to make… but we have consolation knowing she was a believer and now in a far better place!

Our Daily Bread designs, Scripture Series 3

I used the Technique challenge from Splitcoast, you can see a tutorial here. It’s called a Twisted Card. The verse is from ODBD Scripture Series III.

I trust this will bring some comfort to the family… absent from the body, present with the Lord.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Now, a sketch {Splitcoast}, done vertically and horizontally..totally different, yet the same! Also both done for the OWH Mid-week Throwdown ChallengeAny Hero cards and using the color scheme Red, White & Blue is optional

Our Daily Bread designs, Be Joyful

This is ODBD Be Joyful, ColorBox Chalk ink, Prussian Blue, SEI Promise Me dp, Garden Gate MS deep punch, Spellbinders ovals.

ODBD, Keep Climbing

And… ODBD Keep Climbing, stamped in Prussian Blue. The tree line is an MS punch, I punched from white cs then took my Forest Moss distress ink pad directly to the paper.
Each layer was edged with a red Copic marker.

Here is how I did the clouds…
{right clicking on a picture will bring it up larger in another window for your viewing pleasure}

I hope I’ve inspired you to try something NEW today, whether it be a layout, a new technique, or even sending some homemade cards to OWH for our service men and women!

ODBD Elegant Ovals die outlined with black Copic, Spellbinders Large Labels for the sentiment, stamped in Onyx Black and clear embossed…again outlined with black Copic.
The DP is Basic Grey Little Black Dress.

This is also for OWH Mid-Week Throwdown Masculine Challenge (shhh, don’t tell them what the DP is named!)
