#70…. A Sassy Out of Box Challenge

June28 blk

Our Sassy Challenge this week is Judy’s idea… Out of the Box. Play along and you could be a winner!
Just be sure to use a
Sassy Cheryl’s image!

June28 clsup

I need to make Thank You cards for the Awards Sponsors at our Ohio State Fair Llama Show! Cheryl  drew this awesome llama just for ME for this very occasion, and called it Dawn’s Llama! I made this one an Appaloosa.

osf1

I printed 6 at a time and started coloring with Copics!

osf appy1

This is the Appy just colored… then I soaked a small rag with Blender Solution and went over the body…this gives a “textured” look.

osf appy2

See how it softened the spots?

osf5

Then I masked them and airbrushed. Each card will be different that’s for sure! Oh, and I’m not done yet! Glad I still have about a month to get them finished!! Winking smile

June28 OSF TY

In PSE7 I removed the dots from the ribbon and added my wording.

I embossed the TY layer and sponged with Distress inks. The card base is sponged with Distress inks to match the DCWV paper, the layer behind the llama is “faux” cardstock… I used white cs and colored the edges with the same Copic as the ribbon to match. To get that layer I just traced the outside of the same Spellbinders #12 die and cut it out.

I Could Use A Place Like This Right About Now!

f4a53 blk

Waking up to ice and snow this morning,
I was happy to see the
F4A challenge on Splitcoast was Aloha Friday… anything tropical!
What says that more than sun, surf and sand!

F4A53 MalibuAnchor

Once again, I used Anchor from Our Daily Bread designs. I stamped the image, masked it then sponged the sun using a  hole “circle punched” piece of copy paper. The rest is colored with Copics. I added the waves with my Sakura white gel pen, using my waterbrush to “move” the ink around a bit to look like waves.
The DP is SEI On The Coast.

f4a53 clsup

f4a53 shell

I also haven’t used Mudd Puddles sand in a while, so added Malibu Beach and Shells!

Ahhhh… I can dream about a place like this as I look out at the whiteness!!

Thanks for stopping!

SNOW and Airbrushing!! Sassy #45..

hoar frost blk 1-9-11

How appropriate! Our Sassy challenge today is SNOW! Why is it so perfect for today?

  1. I love snow!
  2. We’re supposed to get 3-5 inches today!!!

This might be a little longer post than usual because I have lots to share with you Winking smile

Sunday we had a Hoarfrost..it’s so beautiful when that happens, I had to take a few pictures! It was 8*!

A deposit of ice crystals formed in the same manner as dew except that the temperature of the objects on which it forms must be below 32 degrees Fahrenheit, and the dew point temperature of the air must also be below the freezing mark.

hoar frost3 1-9-11

hoar fros6t 1-9-11

I’m sure Cheryl didn’t have me in mind when she drew this Winter image, but I can so relate!! LOL

Jan11Snow

She’s colored with Copics, white gel pen highlights, masked and airbrushed.

Here are the steps as I created this background.

Jan11 step a

I colored her first, made a mask from copy paper and using 2-way glue put it over the image.

Clicking on a picture will bring it up larger in another window

Jan11 step b

Jan11 step c

Jan11 unmask

Peeled off the mask and voila! Then I added some puff paint and heated it to puff it up.

Jan11 sidepuff

Jan11 clsup

Always start with lighter colors and work to darker. Imagine where there might be shadows and get closer or spray the area several times until you get the desired look. Work in a sweeping motion for best effect. I never know what it’s going to look like until I peel the off the mask! haha!

Fall Colors…#36 Sassy Challenge

Nov2 blk

My absolute favorite time of year…Fall!
That’s our
Sassy Challenge today. You still have time to be a guest designer too! You can read about it on our Challenge Blog!

I’ve heard some of my Canadian friends talk about “broom ball or hockey”, so when Cheryl did this Hockey Sweep Snowman, I knew I had to have it!

Nov2

He’s all colored with Copics along with a little white gel pen. I masked him and airbrushed the background with my airbrush system.

The “ice” has a thin “smear” of  Ranger Glossy Accents.

Nov2 clsup

I sewed fringe on his scarf with two strands of variegated embroidery floss.

Nov2 side

Cheryl just started something new on her blog too! Every Monday she’ll list a “featured designer”! It could be YOU! There are SO many amazing ladies out there that create wonderful cards and projects using the Sassy Cheryl's images that she wanted a way to showcase them.
How FUN! Winking smile
