Fall Color… A Trip to New England and Alpacas?…. Really?

Piper

Last week hubby and I headed to Massachusetts so he could work a day plus a couple hours the next day.

“It should be beautiful” he said…
“New England Fall color!” oh boy!!!

Little did we know that NE was 10 days to 2 WEEKS behind OHIO in color!!! Oh well, we did a little site seeing, I got to meet someone I’ve known online for a few years and we drove home through Amish country here at home and saw some awesome COLOR!

Goodness, I don’t even remember how long I’ve ‘known’ Dawnel… 5 years? We met on SCS from a comment… her nick “DLM”, which are my initials switched around… and to both be “Dawn’s”… we just clicked!

We share recipes, talk about our kids, our family… stamping… and her crazy awesome sewing skills! Anyway, when she found out I’d be ‘close’ to her in MA she said she’d drive the 1.5 hrs, pick me up and we’d go to the coast. Well, that day it did nothing but rain! UGH! So we opted for lunch close by and a stroll around the mall, talk-talk-talking! And she brought me some of her baked goods… 2 kinds of scones…. yum… they were delish!
It was a pleasure meeting you, Dawnel…. hugs!

I took a pic in the mall with my phone, not ideal for a photo shoot! Hence the BW.

A day and a half of seeing the Atlantic…. wish we’d had a little more time and nice weather, but I’ll take what I can!

Mayflower

Mayflower replica… to think the Pilgrims came all that way on this little vessel… amazing!

We took some side roads outside Millersburg, Ohio. Unfortunately we only had about 1.5 hours of daylight, seriously? I need a whole day to get all the pics I want to get! LOL! But, I settled for the little time and snapped away!

And color here at home… just down the road!

Now, what about those Alpacas? Anyone that knows me KNOWS I’m a Llama lover and have never even entertained the idea of owning the “A” word!

Enter sort of a rescue situation, the right price, and the thought of several new 4H kids next year (what am I saying??!!…. am I committing to another year?!)… and not all my llamas being 4H material… I caved!

Piper-and-Alpachino

Meet Piper and Alpachino
the llamas aren’t quite sure what they are and want NO part of them! it’s really kind of comical watching! the llamas move as ONE body if the alpacas get anywhere close! LOL

Gate

Following me out to the other pasture… behind me are the llamas… I only had my phone to take pics, I should have grabbed my camera!

RunLlamas

And Candy, the new kitty, follows behind! Just after I took this picture, the llamas all took off running back to the other pasture with the alpacas in hot pursuit! Too funny!

Hope you’ve enjoyed this little peek into my world!

Thanks for stopping!

For The Love of Joanne and Lighthouses

My good friend Joanne (jojot) is Featured Stamper on SCS today! Congratulations Joanne!! If you think back to our Nova Scotia trip, I got to meet Joanne when we went through Connecticut!

I did 2 cards for the challenge…both of them I think just say “Joanne”.

We share a love of lighthouses and before we ever met face to face or talked on the phone, we discovered we had the same lighthouse in common! Nubble Light is her favorite (click on it to see the pics I took this summer)… she so generously sent me some stamped images after our trip, so I had to make a card! But…first…I made this one.

FS133 Joanne's Travels Joanne’s love of the ocean and travel are the theme for this card. It’s because of Joanne I had to buy this corner punch! She has made some awesome cards with it! Also when we met she gave me this border punch…such a sweetie!

The Impression Obsession image is colored with Copics, masked then airbrushed over a cloud template. The middle layer is from DCWV’s Travel stack and the red layers are all faux’d… white cardstock colored with a Copic.

And what’s an ocean scene without some sand from Mudd Puddles?

I used a card Joanne had sent me along with the lighthouse images for my layout. How ironic that it is the same layout as the card I chose for the one above!

FS133 Treasured Nubble Friendship I flipped it and added my sentiment as another layer.

Colored with Copics and sponged with whatever blue was left on my dauber from a previous card. The sentiment is from Stampabilities.
Pattern paper is from DCWV Latte stack.

I hope you have a wonderful day, thanks for stopping!

Finally…the Trip Home…Lighthouses & Moose, oh my!

We made it to Portland ME on Thursday evening, went to eat on the waterfront…and while there Lloyd started feeling chilled. Ended up he couldn’t even eat his dinner and we left to the hotel where he spiked a fever of 103.5! Friday was a dreary, pouring rain day spent inside our room…thankful I had the laptop while he slept it off!

Today he felt well enough to travel although very weak till late afternoon! So…off to the Portland Head Light. There was a Geo Cache here, but it was more like a scavenger hunt walking the trail, over a mile, and Lloyd just wasn’t up to it=(

Now on to York and the Nubble Lighthouse
I’d visited this lighthouse on a similar work trip about 16 or so years ago, in October!
It was soooo cold I could barely stand outside the car let alone get pictures!
This one had a cache that didn’t take a lot of effort to find, so while I was snapping away, Lloyd was hunting.

041042044   See the cable and basket on the left, just above the rocks?
That’s how the keeper would get back and forth across the water!
Can’t even imagine!!
(by the way, the stop point on this side was where the cache was)

048

Can you imagine staying in this place?!!
What a view!

Ahhhh, I could have sat all day and just listened to the surf and watched the waves…
but we have to make our way home!!!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

This is a pull off point on Hogback Mountain, VT where you can see 100 miles!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

And this town of Bennington, VT was full of moose!!

074

075

076

077And that was just a handful, they were scattered all through downtown!

And with that, I say, good-night! It’s going on midnight and I’m pooped.

Thanks for stopping and following our trip. We should be home tomorrow!
