April Showers….Bring FROGS! #112 A Sassy Challenge

I have a dear friend that delights in calling me the first few nights of Spring….when the Peepers are deafening in her pond. I don’t know how she sleeps!

Without “April Showers” to fill up the ponds there would be no frogs! Our Sassy Challenge this week is… you guessed it… APRIL SHOWERS, the idea of Miz Jeni!

This new cutie patootie is Avery Finds Her Prince.

I saw this fun idea for a Gate-fold card on Pinterest.
She’s colored with Copics, clouds sponged with Distress ink.

I used the Classic Circle cut from the Spellbinders Lacy Circles to cover the backside of the image, and stamped the sentiment by Stampabilities.
The DP is SEI Sunny Day. The words on the front are from Scripty Writing, an old Kim Hughes set from Cornish Heritage Farms. I even machine stitched around the DP panels! The MS punched piece was leftover from another project that ‘didn’t work out’, but did perfectly for this!

Now, here’s my card

For my card, I used this fun Skiing Snowman digi…too cute right?! He’s colored with Copics and some Sakura white gel pen.

For my background I stamped some of my ‘rubber’ CHF images, Christmas Expressions and Joyeux Noel. The snowflakes were stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with Ranger Holographic and Antique Gold embossing powder, then sponged with Distress ink for some emboss resist.

I thought he’d look cute flying down the slopes… I tore strips of cardstock and laid them at an angle on my base, then trimmed the edges even.

All the edges have Icicle Stickles just like glistening snow!

A Little Bird Told Me…..

Cornish Heritage Farms is back under new ownership and having a Grand Re-0pening tomorrow with a blog hop!

If you missed my first post about CHF, that’s where I got my start on a design team! Lots of memories!

I love birds, so when I saw this digi I had to have it! I’m calling it simply, Robin. Right now the images have a number but I’m sure will have names once the store is up and running!
It’s colored with Copics, sponged with Distress inks. The layer the Robin is on it just white cardstock that I drug my Distress ink pad over.

The rose is Spellbinders Spiral Blossom 1. I didn’t want the tulle to be so stark white, so I just used a Copic close in color to the DP and ‘dirtied’ it up a bit! I also hit the ribbon and tulle lightly with my heat tool to distress them. Oh, and the leaves are Spellbinders Shadow Flowers. The DP is DCWV Mirabelle.

Another CHF Peek!

The Grand Re-Opening of Cornish Heritage Farms is just a couple of days away! Here is another peek at one of the digis that will be available.

BTW….not all CHF stamps will be digis, but with soooo many images, over 2000!… Tanya decided what doesn’t go to rubber will become digital. Cool!

I’m going to call this one Jingle Bells Poinsettia, it’s colored with Copics and sponged with Distress ink. The base is embossed with Holly Ribbons and that twill is some I’ve had forevah, probably from Michaels or Joann’s.

One more Christmas card down…. how many more to go??!!!

Seems I’ve Come Full Circle!

Way back in 2007 I was accepted on my very first design team, Cornish Heritage Farms. I had a good time, made new friends and learned sooo much! I eventually went on to other DT’s and the owners decided to sell the company.

Fast forward a few years….

I was contacted a few weeks back about making some samples for the Grand Re-opening of CHF! Wow! Really?! Sure!!

This is one of the digitals that will soon be available. I’m calling it Top Hat Snowman (as he just has a # right now). The sentiment is from an older set called, Joyeux Noel.
He’s colored with Copics and a little white gel pen. I put some Blizzard Mudd Puddles  on for fun too!

The next card is a free digi Tanya offered this week! Flower Wheel Barrow.  How cool is that! Check out the CHF blog too for another special!

Here’s a card I did using the digi.

I made it ‘Fallish’, colored with Copics, sponged with Distress ink. I sent it as a ‘thinking of you/get well’ to my hay man who just got out of the hospital. Perfect for a farmer!

My album will be going in a basket for a benefit dinner/silent auction next month. It will be included with hand crafted cards and small altered items from around the world! The dinner is for a neighbor less than 2 miles down the road, who on Sept 23 was struck by a  trailer as it came unhitched from a passing vehicle. Apple Pie…The Feel of Fall…and a Great Magazine!

(I’m playing with the size of my blog, so if it looks a little funny, it’s because I have NO clue, well, next to no clue what I’m doing! Good ol’ Mel is helping me! HELP!)

Seeing Abby’s status on Facebook reminded me I wanted to share this one with you! I haven’t tooted my own horn in a while *wink*

A Cozy Loving Nest, a Quilt and a Sketch

The other evening while Leah (almost 4) and I were picking raspberries, we discovered a little nest with 2 eggs. I'd noticed Mama Sparrow "warning" us so I figured she must have a nest close by! Leah must have had me pick her up so she could see the eggs at least a half dozen times!

Yesterday I took my camera out and snapped a couple pictures.

She's almost invisible, she blends so well! I waited a while until she left then took this one of the eggs. Notice the llama fiber!

Then Jennifer stopped by with a quilt she'd just finished so I could take some pictures! She's become quite the "quilt maker"!
The reason she had to show me? She'd used one of my background stamps and ink! The stamp is from Cornish Heritage Farms

Isn't it pretty?! I love the colors!

The center with the blue is the Flying Geese pattern, then she just created the rest around it. The fabric is variegated from dark to light.

And today's sketch on SCS. NO, it's not the Brady Bunch! I sat and stared at the sketch for a while trying to figure just what set I'd use. Picked up this one...nope...picked up that one...nope. So thought I'd go with one I haven't used in eons, Kids At Play!

I thought the kids would be cute and as it ended up....there are 9, 4 girls and 5 boys, just how many grandkids I have! LOL
But, what I think I'll do is put one more boy inside the card, and this will be the "thank you" for our llama show judge at county fair! Am I clever or what!! HAHA...no, it just worked out that way!
Ah...Serendipity!

Colored with Copics, Spellbinder's Nestabilities for the circles/scallops. Actually pretty quick once I got the set figured out! LOL
They're stamped on Hollo's paper, layered on Prism Blush Red dark and Kraft.

Inky Antics Fun...and a Pretty Butterfly

Saturday, Amber and I went to the Scrapbook Expo in Columbus. Wall to wall vendors and people!


I didn't do a lot of buying...more looking...but I did make a point of stopping at Inky Antics! I love their stuff....and Janie Miller is such a fun illustrator!


Here are two cards I've done so far with Lester (the moose) and Puppy Love.

Lester is colored with Prismacolor pencils blended with baby oil. The trees are from PSX and the daisies from Cornish Heritage Farms.

Pup and Kitten are colored with Copic markers. The paw prints are from Top Dog by Artful Inkables.
Inside it says, Happiness is an unexpected hug. Awwww (sentiment is also from Inky Antics)

I Really Made That?

Every month there is a challenge issued to the current Dirty Girls and Alumnae, I've done one since I've been on the team. This month I thought I'd play along.....oh brother! Here is what we had to do.......

March is a time to usher in new things. Afterall, Spring comes in March! So, I have a fun challenge for you. This month we are going to do a Featured Stamper challenge. Who is the featured stamper? Well, YOU are!

This month, you are going to choose the oldest card in your gallery (or at least one on your very first page of uploads)... and you are going to CASE it!

Here is the catch... just like the regular featured stamper challenge, you are going to change at least three things on your card (i.e. different colors, different stamps, different embellishments), but we want to be able to see the subtle changes.

Ok, are you ready for this? I don't have the card anymore...I probably sent it to some poor soul who no doubt wondered what was I thinking!!! I tried to copy the picture from SCS but it wouldn't let me...so before you go any further, you MUST follow this link and view the original card! Seriously, at the time I probably thought it was good!





Thanks to all the wonderful stampers on SCS, lots more toys!... I've learned and grown, and I'm happy to show my updated version!
As you can see, I used the same two sets, changing from a "snow" scene, adding in some ground cover and small rocks from Cornish Heritage Farms. It's all colored with Copics, I masked the truck then airbrushed the "forest" floor and sky.

The windows of the truck are cut out and filled with Matte Accents by Ranger to look like actual glass. I stamped another pine tree on a scrap piece of cardstock, colored it and airbrushed, then fit it behind the windows (behind the entire card front) so it looks like you're looking right though to the trees behind the truck!

Keyword: DCFSC0309 in the SCS gallery...c'mon, have a look. I think this will be fun!!
