Summer Time! #121 A Sassy Challenge

Sassy Cheryl's, Bentley Bears Bee Fortune

I don’t know about where you live, but Summer entered Ohio like a swarm of bees… BAM! Hot! and the humidity level increased too, ugh!

It’s my turn this week to host our
Sassy Challenge!
Yippee!! A real ‘open’ challenge… Summer! Whatever it means to you!

Play along with us, you don’t have to use a Sassy Cheryl’s image, but IF you do, you’ll have another chance at winning 2 free digis from Cheryl!

Sassy Cheryl's, Bentley Bears Bee Fortune This is a fairly new image, Bentley Bear’s Bee Fortune. I just LOVE the look on his face! LOL, remember Pooh Bear… “Hello Beezzzz”, and, “I’m just a little black rain cloud, hovering over your honey tree”.
It’s a ‘long-tall’ card that fits in a business size envelope.

Anyhoo… it’s colored with Copics. I die cut the bees out separately with Spellbinders Persian Accents and sponged with Scattered Straw Distress ink while still in the die, then hand cut the 2 bees not in the die, lined them up with their antenna and popped them up. The sentiment is from Whipper Snapper, Bee-lieve In A Cure.

I had fun with my Memory Box dies, Fancy Blossoms, Cheery Blossom (DTP with Color Box Rouge ink), Estate Fence, Grassland Border and Puffy Clouds (sponged with Faded Jeans Distress ink). I also ran the flowers and lower part of grass through the Cuttlebug with Polka Dots and Swiss Dots embossing folders.

Sassy Cheryl's, Bentley Bears Bee Fortune

This is going to be hard card to send to someone… I’m in love with it and don’t want to part with it! LOL! It’s going to have to be someone reeeeally special!!

Amazing! For You Scrappers and Cardmakers too!

wt330 blk

These new Large Scrapbook Words from Our Daily Bread designs are the perfect size for scrapping but they work great on a card too!

Today’s Ways to Use It challenge on Splitcoast was “Dolies”… either the store bought kind or make your own, which I opted to do. I used Spellbinders Lotus Pendent and Fleur de Lis Motifs. The FDL is cut from SEI Couture.

wt330 side

I just love Hydrangeas and would love to have the colored ones, mine are your ordinary “white” variety. So, I decided to make mine with a pink tinge to them! They’re colored with Copics. Hydrangea is from the Garden Collection, ODBD.

WT330 Amazing Hydrangea

The upper part of my card is embossed with the Victoria folder. My bow done on the Bow Easy and a Martha Stewart border punch along the bottom. My card measures 5.5 x 5.5

Hope your day is Amazing!

Time In A Bottle….

sc334blk

An all time favorite song from my teen years…ack…was it really THAT long ago??!!.. Time In A Bottle, by Jim Croce, is one of the new stamps from Our Daily Bread designs, Blessings Collection also a new collection! Available June 1st.

sc334 clsup

Another new set being released is Time. A large lovely clock face, perfect for scrapping or cards with several sentiments and scriptures.. a must have!!

SC334 Time In A Bottle

This is the sketch on Splitcoast today, flipped to accommodate the quote. I used Bo Bunny Timepiece and embossed it with Cuttlebug’s Clockworks. Also with the same DP, I used Spellbinders Sprightly Sprockets in my Grand Calibur, such a cool die set!

The clock and quote are sponged with Ranger Distress inks, Antique Linen and Frayed Burlap.
The quote is faux layered, meaning I used a black Sharpie marker and ruler on the edges. Saves a little bit of bulk. Winking smile

Speaking of TIME…. I could sure use more of it! Or maybe I should say, more time=days with LESS rain! I just started shearing this week!! I have 4 done of the 14, (my own). I also have a half dozen or so that I do for others! Today though, even though it isn’t raining at this minute… I think I’m giving my hands a break from the clippers and get some stamping deadlines met!

Here is Dapple, my very first cria (baby llama and now 12) and his new hair cut. He’s such a sweetie with very nice fiber too! He’s an Appaloosa, just like in the horse world.

Dapple 5-23-11

I always have the 4H kids help with their llama. Last night we got 2 done while the boys were unloading hay and the rest of the group were practicing Showmanship.

TobiSheared 5-24-2011

This is Tobi and Levi. We tried a new “do” on her this year. I really like it!! And once Levi has her all groomed up, she’s going to be gorgeous!!

Well, that’s some pieces of my week… hope you’re doing well and getting the things done that need done! LOL

That’s me at the thought
of savoring a mug of pumpkin spice capp! lol

Vintage Ornaments

lg ornament hollyedge blk

I’m shooting for December 4th to have ALL my Christmas cards done! Think I’ll make it? 32 days left till Christmas! (I know, I know…don’t remind you!)

Helping to celebrate the 300th Technique Challenge on Splitcoast, which by the way is a wealth of knowledge…so many I need to go back and do them again as I enjoyed them the first time! We were to go through the list and pick at least 2 techniques…the more the merrier!

Here’s another sneak peek at the new
Ornaments set from
Our Daily Bread designs.

lg ornament hollyedge

My techniques are #22 Dry Embossing, #263 Very Vintage, and #265 Childhood Memeories. (lol, there could be more, but 300 is a lot to look through!)

After stamping and coloring (and die cutting), I used my small stylus and a foam pad to outline the poinsettia on the front side…then flipped it to the back side, outlined it again, and finally using my large stylus rounded out the petals. It’s a lot easier to see in person.

lg ornament hollyedge clsup

If you’re ever stumped on what to do, take a look through the techniques! You’re bound to find something that tickles your fancy!!

stamp: ornaments- our daily bread designs (dec 1st)
ink: memento tuxedo black, ranger distress broken china, stormy sky
paper: georgia pacific white, basic grey jovial, bazzill
other: copics, spellbinders, sakura white gel pen, spica gold gel pen, cuttlebug/ef, gold embroidery floss, martha stewart holly punch, stylus, foam dimensionals

Now, I need to go tally up and see how close I am! Winking smile

A Blessed Christmas

Blessed Christmas Mistletoe-Snowflakes clsup

With a nip in the air and some snowflakes yesterday…a REALITY CHECK that Christmas will be upon us in no time!

Here’s another card to share using Our Daily Bread designs Snowflake Background, Mistletoe Tag set and Tag Die.

Blessed Christmas Mistletoe-Snowflakes

For the background, I stamped the Snowflake Background with embossing ink, embossed with clear ep and sponged over with Distress inks… the embossing will resist the ink and make your image pop! The frame over the snowflakes is a Cuttlebug embossing die, Lace Door. The tag is colored with Marvy embossable markers, embossed with clear ep.

Some pearls, satin ribbon (Bow Easy) and my card is done!

Furry Friends...#34 Sassy Challenge

Oct19 blk

Our Sassy Challenge , Furry Friends. You can join along you know!

Just use your favorite Sassy Cheryl image, check out our rules, post to your blog or SCS, PCP gallery, then link back here using Mr. Linky.
The lucky winner will receive a $5 gift certificate to Sassy Cheryl's shop.

I did a clean and simple card just embossing around the image (Grace's Frame) and coloring with Copics. After the bear was colored, I took a piece of rag, dampened it with blender fluid and dabbed at his "fur". This removes color and adds texture!Oct19 sideThis is A Big Bear Hug, the sentiment is from Innovative Stamp Creations, Friends Are Special.

Poppers, Judges Cards and MORE Zucchini!

Judges T-Sliders blk

You saw my TY's for those that contributed towards awards for our State Fair Llama Show, but I still wanted to make the two judges a special card. Last week on Splitcoast was a really cool tutorial called T-Slide Card, I knew right away that this was perfect for my judge's cards! I even colored one of the llamas like Eagle, a black & white tuxedo beautiful boy that one of the judges owns!

Judges T-SlidersOnce again I used Lina from Mo's Digital Pencil.

Judges T-Sliders 2 Judges T-Sliders open Once you do one of these and get the hang of it, it's super easy! I made mine 4.5 x 4.5. The sentiment is from Verses rubber stamps.

Did you see the picture of the jalapenos the other day?

Jalapenos 2010 Well, over the weekend I made POPPERS! Mmmmm! I used this recipe.

Poppers peppers

Poppers filled

Poppers crumb

Poppers done

Mmmmmmm, soooo good!

Then I made Crabbiless Crab Cakes!
A good way to use up Zucchini!
I didn't take any pics...but here's the recipe!

2 C shredded zucchini
1 C seasoned bread crumbs
3/4 C grated cheddar cheese
1/2 C finely diced red onion
1 egg, slightly beaten
2 T mayonnaise
1 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
1 tsp Dijon mustard
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp fresh ground pepper
olive oil for frying

Combine all ingredients, mixing well. Heat oil in large skillet and carefully drop large spoonfuls of the mixture, gently flattening into a "patty". Fry 7-10 minute on each side until golden and cooked through. (they'll feel firm)

Well, lots to do this week...it's crunch time for State Fair!

Thanks for stopping!
