Lucky me, I had a small piece of Prima Life in Colors, so I made a "scrapling". I measures 3x5.5.

Quick and simple too! I stamped Happy Easter from the set by Our Daily Bread designs. Martha Stewart punched edges and Prism Intense Azalea on the inside (matches perfectly!)

Two Sunny Days in a Row!!!

There is still snow on the ground, but the sun has decided to show us what it looks like for two straight days!! Beautiful! It won't be long and these beauties will be pushing their way up through the soil!

This is a "free standing pop-up card", it folds flat to fit in a regular envelope. There is a great tutorial ----->here

I combined three sets from Our Daily Bread designs, Happy Easter, The Lord Has Risen and With Heartfelt Sympathy. The daffodils were masked and stamped, then colored with Copics, Distress ink sponged around the edges and some stickles added. I used Labels 13 for the top of the tag and Victoria embossing folder for the base.

A Tall Guy!

As I was checking Mo's Digital Challenge today, this idea *popped* into my head. The challenge is to use "wood" or "would"... make a card or 3-D project and incorporate 'wood' or 'would', or perhaps use 'faux wood' in your project.

We have a friend whose birthday is Saturday.
Tom is rather on the TALL side!
As he puts it...he's 5' 19"... that's 6' 7"! Yeah, tall!

I wanted my card to be a long/tall card, so I stretched out this digital along the side of my 8.5x11 blank file in PSE7. Then I printed it on a piece of copy paper just to make sure...yup! it was the right size=).

Now time for the wording, back to my working file in PSE, I used Papyrus font and did the sentiment. Printed to cardstock (Georgia Pacific white) and we're ready to color!

It's all colored with Copics and since I had the copy paper printout already, it was easy to cut my masks!

A few dots of 2-way glue on the back of my masks lets me keep them in place while airbrushing. You can see how I did the clouds in my tutorial.

  And this is what happens when your mask slips a bit! LOL! His feet are glowing!

Anyway...who WOULD have thought
oh~so~many  years ago
that little Tom WOULD grow so TALL!

Wednesday's tutorial on Splitcoast was this fabulous faux leather wallet. I didn't want to make a wallet at the time, so came up with these!

I just love this picture my daughter-in-law took of Gabriel, Leah & Toby. (teehee, Toby is wearing the sweater I knitted for him)

This is an el cheapo magnetic frame from the $1 store. I cut my piece of Prism Suede Brown Medium the size of the frame, "faux leathered"it, adhered it in place, flipped it over and using my craft knife carefully cut out the center. (super fast frame dress up!)

The verse is from the new Noah's Ark.

The leather look reminded me of an old book...

I decided to make a cover for a small composition book.

I stamped the image from Confirmation and colored it with Prismacolor pencils. Then I stamped/embossed one of the verses from Baptism & Confirmation.

My sewing machine is on the blink, I stitched around by hand using a double strand of button hole thread.

To make sure the brad had enough clearance for the the leather strip, before spreading the "anchor" on the backside, I slid the leather under the brad to hold it up and allow that space. The ends of the leather are sandwiched securely between the "leather" cover and book cover with heavy duty red line tape.

The possibilities are endless!

Velvet Flower Blessings

Brrrrr...I woke up to ZERO degrees outside this morning! It's 10 now at 3PM and we're supposed to get windchills to minus 10 later! UGH
In spite of that.... I still love winter!!

Today's featured stamper on Splitcoast was Anne (Ardodd, her SCS name). She's a sweetie, always takes time to leave nice comments. It was a pleasure to peruse her gallery...very talented indeed!! I chose this card to case.

She used Flower Soft on hers, and it fit so nicely on this new image from Confirmation,  Our Daily Bread designs.

It's colored with Copics and sponged with whatever distress inks were left in my daubers! I used two SEI designer papers..so yummy! Juliette Secret Rendevous (double sided) & Juliette Printed Velvet. Martha Stewart deep edge punch, Spellbinders ovals and organdy ribbon finished it off!

Hope you're warm and toasty where you are...or if you're in Australia, hope you're cool in the AC!! LOL

One More Down...How Many to Go?

I love the challenges on Splitcoast for several reasons, it's an ever learning process and it helps me get my Christmas cards done!

This is another sneak peek at one of the new sets from Our Daily Bread designs, His Gift, being released tomorrow. Be sure to stop by tomorrow so you can see the beautiful DT creations!

This card was done for yesterday's Featured Stamper , Mrs. Boz, and this is the card I cased. (I had to flip it in order to accommodate my image)

This is a gatefold card. It's entirely airbrushed with Copics. I stamped 2 of the image, masking to do the background, cutting one poinsettia out and popping it up over the other. I cut around some of the petals too, shaped them and popped them up a little higher than some of the others.

I put a thin line of Zip Dry glue around the edges and dipped them in Sugar Dust.

Bringing You Lasting Joy

Today's Inspiration Challenge on Splitcoast was a no-brainer for me! As soon as I saw the Poinsettia Porcelain Plate I knew what I was going to do!

This is a 4.25x4.25 card. I stamped the poinsettias from Blessed Christmas first and colored with a mix of Prismacolor pencils and Copics and colored all around them with an olive Copic. Then I stamped the poinsettias from Luke 2:11 on another piece of cardstock, colored with Copics and cut them out.

Next I gave it all a spritz of Pearl Glimmer Mist by Tattered Angels, popped up the cut out flowers, punched leaves from Prism Spring Willow med and glued them in place. For the flower centers, I put a dab of Liquid Pearls by Ranger and added some gold seed beads.

The verse is from Christmas Verses. All these images are being released tomorrow at Our Daily Bread designs. The Design Team has a huge blog hop with fabulous prizes tomorrow!! So be sure to stop by!

Ready For Another Peek…and Happy Birthday to Moi!

I love to see the store displays of poinsettias at Christmas!

Here, I used Christmas Verses and Blessed Christmas, 2 of the 3 new sets coming Nov 1 at Our Daily Bread designs.

I masked and stamped the flowers, colored with Copics and then gave them a spritz of Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist (pearl). The paper is from SEI and Prism. I colored the Mark Richards pearls with a Copic marker to match.
Oh  yeah, and it’s the sketch on Splitcoast today.

I’m really enjoying making my Christmas cards this year!!
Gee, how many down and how many more to go? LOL

Just Some Sketch Challenge Cards

For today's Sketch challenge on SCS, nothing fancy...


Confession is good for the soul...right? I don't normally start out with my pattern paper and work out to my image. I always color first then figure out IF I have paper that matches! LOL


So today I thought I'd be different, I had some of the paper left from our DD supplies and thought I'd try the tulips (A Year of Flowers) from Gina K colored with a combo of Copics and Prismacolor pencils, on those strips....I even had the flowers looking rather rusty, but, oh... did they look GROSS on that paper!


Plan B....found the Lilykate by Basic Grey that looked nice behind the tulips, masked and airbrushed them, added some "redder" tones, then layered on several 'rose' shades.

Now, I still had the strips cut from the first try so I had to do another card! The ribbon frame from the Technique challenge was so fun, I incorporated it into the sketch. This is Top Dog from Artful INKables.

It's another beautiful day here, not quite 70, but pushing it! Pretty soon I'll be seeing my tulips blooming....but for now I'll have to settle for my stamps!

CHA Sample

I was fortunate to be able to send a Thomas Kinkade sample to be on display at CHA with Cornish Heritage Farms!

But what to do? I mean, goodness, this is the largest craft trade show ever!!! I've had this 3 part clock frame forever, nickle ninety-eight from Big Lots, and it was just collecting dust..................so why not!

It's just a plastic frame, so it was hard to get any medium to stick to it, even Gesso! In the end, this dilemma worked for the good and made it look kinda Shabby Chic and since the theme was Fashion, Keri gave it the 'thumbs up' to ride along with her to California!

Okay, so, I started out by taking the frame apart and painting it with Gesso. After it dried, I painted it with Crackle Paint (Milled Lavender) by Ranger and set it aside. As the paint dries it starts to crack and you simply need to 'sit and watch paint dry' and let it do it's thang!

On to the Thomas Kinkade image...colored with Prismacolor pencils blended with baby oil, a few Copics and a white Sakura gel pen. I made the mat frames with my Nestabilities.

I printed the calendar on the computer and sponged with some distress inks, making the mats the same with Nestabilities.

When the frame was dry and cracked, I sponged some distress inks (Shabby Shutters, Worn Lipstick) here and there.....which you can see removed some of the paint! Hey, that's the distressed look right?! After assembling the frame, I sprayed it with that gold webbing stuff and gave it several coats of Krylon clear gloss.

CHA Week

While everyone is at CHA, us girls left behind decided we'd do some challenges. This color challenge was suggested by Julia, using the Prism Paper colors Birchtone dark, Spring Willow medium, Intense Pink and Papaya Puree (I used dark).

At first when I got the colors together I thought...UGH!...Ewwww! But once I got my idea together and assembled, I was pretty pleased with the outcome! I went back to an older CPS sketch, #4.

Prism Papers is having a contest so I figured, "what the heck, might as well!"

CHF's Broad Stripe bg stamped with Adirondack Peach Bellini, scooted the image over and stamped again in Distress Dried Marigold. Prism colors Papaya Puree medium, Papaya Puree dark, Twilight medium, Twlight dark.
Sentiment is from Verses Rubber Stamps and is popped up on foam mounting tape.
Faux buttons using Nestabilities smallest circle die, each button is 3 layers. Crop a dile used to punch holes, linen thread tied in a square knot.
Faux brads done the same way using the Crop a dile.
