A Friend Like You….My Cup of Tea!

Mojo222 Special Blend leafy

Coffee is my hot beverage of choice, but I do enjoy a cup of tea quite often too!

This is the Mojo Monday sketch with Special Blend from Our Daily Bread designs.

Mojo222 Special Blend clsup

I stamped the ‘doily frame’ and sentiment with Scattered Straw Distress ink and embossed right away with clear ep.
The DP is Alla by
Prima. Spellbinders Lotus Pendant is peeking out between the layers.
I’ve had that tea cup punch (Family Treasures) since I first started stamping…probably 9yrs! Poor thing has been so neglected! I attached a piece of string and ‘tea bag tag’ too.
Oh, the solid layers are ‘faux color cardstock’… I just used white and colored the edges with a Copic to match the DP!

Christmas is Coming in October…from ODBD!

SC352 blk

You're just going to love this release coming up from
Our Daily Bread designs!

SC352 Embossed Christmas

Here you see Holiday Ornaments that match up with Spellbinders Holiday Tags. And that fun background… is the same paper that is the vertical layer, embossed with the Victoria folder! It’s also the sketch challenge this week on Splitcoast.

My good cyber friend, and oh-so-talented Mel, reminded me of this fun Emboss Resist technique. I’ll let her explain it all since she went to all the trouble with pics and all! Such a sense of humor…she’s a hoot! Check it out…

                   **WARNING**
you can spend hours on her blog!

So, this is what my background piece looks like…

SC352 embossed clsup

Sure changes the looks of DP doesn’t it!

Mel’s is much neater than mine, but I still love how it turned out. I used Ranger Distress Black Soot reinker to “blacken” my paper.

SC352 clsup

I sponged the Ornaments while in the dies. The silver “brads” are leftover from the Mirror paper punched the other day from the Chipboard Ornaments! Merry Christmas is also embossed on more Prima DP and Spellbinders Labels 23. The red layers are “fauxed” cardstock… I just drug my Ranger Distress Barn Door over the edges of white!

One more Christmas card down… how many to go?!

Aug16 framed

Whew! I’ve been playing catch-up what with being at the fair all last week then working 2 days at Stampaway… I had mountains of laundry and floors that hadn’t been vacuumed in…um… well, you get the idea! (yeah, nobody but me knows how to run the vacuum!! LOL)

And speaking of Stampaway… I got to meet Kecia!! Such a sweetie! I’m glad you introduced yourself, Kecia! It’s always fun to meet my cyber buddies!

************************

Our Sassy Challenge this week,
again from that Sassy Jeni,
is Sewing, real or faux.

When I saw Little Knitter I knew I had to have her! Being a hand-spinner and knitter she is just perfect!

Aug16

Isn’t she just adorable! I colored her with Copics, then cut her out with scissors and craft knife. She’s set atop a Cheery Lynn die, Dainty Dutch Deco Frame. I hand stitched some yarn around the inside.
The sentiment is from
Our Daily Bread designs, Sewn With Love, and is machine stitched. Spellbinders Labels 8 trimmed around embossed area then I used the same die for the mat… “faux color” cardstock by using a Copic marker to match on white cs.

Friends Along The Way

sc330 blk

Life’s truest happiness
is found in the friendships
we make along the way.

A fun sketch today on Splitcoast and I decided to use an image I haven’t colored in a looooong time! Puppy Love  (and sentiment) from Inky Antics.

sc330 side

It’s colored with Copics, doodles with a Multiliner,
faux cardstock layers (white cs colored with Copics around the edges). DP is DCWV The Pet Stack.

SC330 Friends Along The Way

Hope your day is going well… we’re still inundated with T-storms! Tornado sirens went off while I was making this card… I’m so tired of rain and mud! The bright spot is it’s a great time to STAMP!

Using Grey…Quick and Simple!

WT grey

The Ways to Use It challenge on Splitcoast today is to use grey. I never realized how hard this color is to photograph!! I have trouble with purples being true…now grey!

Anyhoo… I did a CAS (clean and simple) card this morning before heading out the door to a 4H advisor meeting (time to start thinking about kids and llamas!)

WT311 Holds

I used Anchor, from Our Daily Bread designs, stamped in Pumice Stone on a grey generic cardstock. Then I stamped the sentiment in black, rounding the bottom sentiment on my acrylic block before stamping just for a little different look and kind of an “ocean wave” feel.

I used the new Fish Embossing Plate for the background.

For my “faux” cardstock (to make it a darker grey) I used N4 Copic around the edges of the same light grey cs. I thought the EK punch had a wavy look to it and added a nice touch.

Trust you day is going well.

January Sunrise and a Sketch

JanSunrise

I couldn’t resist running out…in my robe…in the front yard (luckily no one came down the road!)… 14 degrees… to catch the sunrise!

And here is a sneak peek at a fun digi image from Squigglefly, Divine Bovine Valentine, done for the sketch challenge on Splitcoast. This image will be released on the 8th. It comes with a barnyard of cute sentiments too.

SC314 sf

It’s colored with Copics… and doing this I realized I’m seriously lacking in the “darker” greys! The DP is some old DCWV and the red layer is faux’d with a Copic.

Enjoy your day! Thanks for stopping!

A Faux Tiled Christmas

TLC301 blk

One more Christmas card down!
I need to count up today and see how many more I need…crunch time!

TLC301 side

Today’s Technique Lover’s Challenge on Splitcoast is Faux Tile. I love these challenges because it MAKES me either learn a new technique or reminds me of ones I haven’t done in a long time! Like this one!  I love the look and you can really make it as simple or complex as you want. This one was a little more involved coloring in all the poinsettias, but it would have looked nice just stamped too!

I used Our Daily Bread designs Poinsettia Background and one of the new sets coming this week (Dec 1st), Christmas Blessings

Pre-order and save and you can still get your cards made in time to send! Winking smile

TLC301 Sending Love

There is a tutorial on Julie’s blog for the faux tile. After coloring, I “grouted” my tiles with a white Elmer’s Painter pen. The entire tiled layer is embossed with clear ep, All the red layers are “faux colored” with a Copic marker and Barn Door distress ink.

Lots of posts this week…so stay tuned!

#30 Sassy Cheryl's... A Sketch

Sept 21 Let it Snow blk

This week we have a sketch. I love having the hard part done for me!

I used Singing Snowman,
I love snowmen! Cheryl has such cute ones too!

Sept 21 Let it Snow He's colored with a combo of Copics and Prismas, with some gel pen thrown in for accents (the layer is colored with a Copic to match). I've had the little wooden sign forevah! It was perfect as it matched the sketch!

Essence of Summer....and a Goodbye

Essence of Summer blk

What a beautiful Monday! Seriously, the temps are perfect, windows are open, birds are singing... I'm BUSY! LOL!

I made this card yesterday for the Featured Stamper on Splitcoast, Princessheather. She is such a sweetheart, I just had to play the challenge!

FS185 Summer I used Our Daily Bread designs Happy Fall and Flower Frames II, two net sets this month. It's colored with Copics and sponged with Dried Marigold Distress ink. The DP is SEI. I'm hoping Kelley gets some dies made like these frames!! The GP white layers are "faux cardstock" done with a Copic that matches...only the edges are colored *wink*.

Don'tWorry divider

The essence of summer........butterflies, wildflowers .... AND the garden growing like crazy!

pepper basket

Lloyd's pepper plants are in tomato cages and are NO JOKING... at least 3 1/2 feet tall if not more! This is just a sampling of what's yet to pick!

Today I've canned 6 qts of peaches and 14 qts of tomatoes. Tonight we're freezing boatload of okra and corn! Just a small patch... 90 x 30 I think! *gasp*

I'm thankful, the Lord has been good!

Don'tWorry divider

I had a tough weekend.. I lost one of my beloved llamas, Diego. He's been battling for a year now...the vet had done all he knew to do, but it was his time to go.

He had the best temperament, always did what he was asked to do. He will be deeply missed!

Sassy Challenge #24

Aug10 blk

This week our Sassy Challenge is another fun one from Cathy... Black-White and Pink embellishments. At first I was like... "how am I going to do this??!!!" BUT... I totally LOVE the end result! (I had the hardest time getting the pic to look like the actual colors.. fuchsia & hot pink!...it looks more red here)

I used A Crabby Surprise, colored with Copics with white gel pen accents.

Aug10 Pink Isn't she just the cutest! and that crab peeking out.. I love how Cheryl's mind works............UM.... that's kinda SCARY!! LOL!

Aug10 Pink clsupMartha Stewart's sand castle border punch, some Offray ribbon and cardstock layers "fauxed" with Copic marker to match and I was done! Oh, the DP is DCWV Black/White.

I'm just about brain dead from being at fair (no smart remarks! LOL!). Two more days and we're done!! Whoop!!

Jacksonbelle.....Down to Our Last Goodbye

Jun29 blk

What can I tell her
That I haven't told her
That would change her mind
Cause she heard that line before
Now all that's left for me
Is just the memory of all
Those happy days gone by
Now we're down to our last goodbye

Well, this is it, Lindsey known to many as Jacksonbelle is closing her cyber doors. *sniff sniff* I got to meet Linds several years ago, what a sweetheart. I wish her the very best in whatever the future holds for her!

Many of you might also know she is a Willie Nelson lover!! LOL
Us girls on the DT have said our "goodbyes", sent cyber hugs, and now we're here at our last blog post! So, I found this song by Willie. and took this part...HUGS LINDS!!!

Jun29She still has some items left in the store at 75% off.

I used this Flutter DP by Making Memories. The image is a digi from Sassy Cheryl's, I Pledge Allegiance. It's colored with Copics and sponged with Distress ink. For the pink nestie layer, I used my craft knife and carefully cut around the die then colored the edges with a Copic to match. The out-of-the-box flag is popped up on a foam dimensional.

Please stop by and leave some love for the girls...we could all use a hug!

A Sketch and ODBD Anniversary Celebration

SC271 blessings blk

Our Daily Bread designs is going to be celebrating it's second anniversary on March 17th! The sticks in the bread basket are celebrating too!!! We have come up with 5 days of fun and excitement for you, so you can join in as well!!!

Beginning on March 13th, we will have a daily challenge. You can get all the details and heads up on the challenges on the ODBD blog!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Now for my cards. I did two for the sketch challenge on Splitcoast, two totally different cards!

SC271 Blessings My Lily of the Valley isn't even pushing up through the ground yet, but I can almost smell the beautiful fragrance these delicate flowers give! This is from the set Easter Blessing by Our Daily Bread designs. The leaves are colored with Copics. The layers are "fauxed" cardstock, my cheap trick, just white cardstock colored with a marker to match. The flowers themselves are colored with an Elmer's Painty pen.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

This next one is for Mo's DP2 Challenge, a color challenge using brown, blue and neutral.

SC271 no mystery blk It's colored with Prismacolor pencils blended with OMS. The background is airbrushed. I merged two different digi's for this one, Lookin for Clues and Bronte from Makin Cards.

SC271 No Mystery

Enjoy your day! Thanks for stopping!
