Taking a Look Back at July with ODBD

VintageTrueFriendblk

Flowers are still blooming in my yard and at Our Daily Bread Designs as we take a look back at the July release!

VintageTrueFriendWM

For my sample today I used A True Friend, Vintage Borders (I love this die set!!) from this month, and also Vintage Labels, Pierced Rectangles, and Pastel Paper Pack.

This iris is water colored  with wc pencils, then some Flower Soft was added, it is hand cut.

A Blooming Garden and a Sketch!

SC600blk

Ahh, the beauty of Summer! I can stand at any window in my house and see a variety of color… red, purple, bright pink, orange, coral, white… Lilies, Hostas, Bee Balm, Phlox.

This first card is ODBD Sweet as Perfume on a center step Fun and Fancy Fold. I used watercolor paper and watercolor crayons with a waterbrush. The sentiment is on Vintage Borders which coordinates with Vintage Labels. I also used Grass Border, Pierced Rectangles, and Fence dies.

My iris are done although I do have a variety that is supposed to bloom twice in a year…hope so!

SC600WM

This was done for the Sketch Challenge on Splitcoast, the 600th sketch! We could choose any sketch from 500 on, I chose 532. My earliest SC I could find in my gallery was 53!

This is A True Friend colored with Copics and Flower Soft added. I also used Layered Lacey Ovals, Pierced Rectangles, Vintage Ephemera Collection, and Blooming Garden Collection.

Hope you’re enjoying your ‘garden’!

New Art Coloring Books from Katy Sue Designs

LeShoeButtonsWM

I remember coloring lots of coloring books when I was young…
and I’m still coloring…..
hey, I’m young at heart {wink}!!

books

I was asked to color up some of these detailed images from Katy Sue Designs new adventure, Art Coloring Books, or as in the UK and Canada, Art Colouring Books. Artist Sandra Rushton did an amazing job on these books. You can read about her, here, on the KSD blog.

The books will be available to the US on Thursday exclusively with Create and Craft TV. I hope to have a direct link for that broadcast and will share it in another post.

To give you an idea, I used different mediums on several of the illustrations to show how versatile they are, Copics, Yarka watercolor, and Prismacolor pencils. I could see these being framed in cute little boutiques, specialty shops and restaurants!

Let’s start with Nautical Adventures.

Boat1st-pencilsWM

Here is one done in pencil. The cool thing is, you get several of each main illustration that is shaded and several that aren’t so you can put your own special touches in where you want.

Whew…I haven’t watercolored in a looooong time! This particular one just seemed like it should be done in watercolor though!

And, this one, with Copics.

You do need to put scrap paper behind when coloring with any of your mediums if you leave it in the book because of “bleed through”.

And… Le Shoe

LeShoeButtonsWM

This was the first one I colored up (Copics) and it just screamed Pink and Purple! lol…

Within each book are accent pictures that go with the theme. Obviously, this one doesn’t go with the ‘button shoe’, I just wanted to color some roses!

This is also one of the un-shaded illustrations.

A shot of the back just to show it will bleed through.

Hopefully another post tomorrow with some step by step shots.

Everything’s Coming Up Daisies!

Jan9

My sweet cyber pal, Dawn, sent me this piece of 140# Cold Press water color paper embossed with Grace’s Frame…I hadn’t water colored for a while, fun! I really should more often!!

I stamped Daisy, from ODBD in Stazon black and used reinkers. When done and dry, I over-stamped the image again using my stamp positioner. This makes the image POP!

The flower centers are Ultra Fine Ocean Flower Soft.

Enjoy your day!

Did She OR Didn’t She… A Sale and Anything Goes #91 Sassy Challenge

Nov22 blk

Last week you remember we tried to stump Cheryl who claims she can tell which designer makes which card! Oh yeah….she’s SASSY alright…so aptly named! She thinks she’s sooooo smart!

This week our Sassy Challenge is from our 0h-so-talented Sassy Pat, Anything Goes.

But before I get to my card for today, I have a sale to tell you about! thanksgiving-day-sale.jpg

Nov22

This is Noah and Patches, awww, aren’t they cute! I haven’t used my water color pencils in quite some time, so I dusted them off for this one!

Nov22 clsup

The DP is DCWV and I doodled a bit with a fine tip pen.

Nov22 side

So, what was your guess for last week’s challenge? Did you think Cheryl would even come close?? Oh, I can hear her now….last year she claimed WE cheated, how I don’t know!!
This year I mixed it up a bit by NOT using Copics like I usually do and using Prismacolor Pencils like Sassy Judy. I also tried to create my card like one of our ex-Sassy gals, Alina! AND I did the inside of mine like Sassy Pat (well, maybe not just like hers…that woman is phenomenal!)

So….here we go! I HATE to admit it….but, dang, she’s good!

STB inside

Nov22STB

This is Sally and Her Blue Birds. DP is DCWV Holiday Collection Winter Stack, Scripty Writing from CHF Kim Hughes, Spellbinders Snowflake Wonder and Contemporary Hearts, Martha Stewart punch.

So, go ahead and gloat Miz SASSY Cheryl!!
You did it!
AND, I THINK YOU CHEATED THIS YEAR!!!

Have a look-see at the rest of the Sassy gals
