Ransom...White... & Puns? Plus Something Coming!

f4a30 blk

You're probably wondering what all that title has in common! Three different challenges! LOL

Two challenges on Splitcoast, the WT to make a card with a "Ransom" look to it, the F4A to make a card with a "Pun" and Mo's Digital Pencil Challenge "Bright White".

First I want to share this hilarious (at least I thought so!) pun... ready?

Mahatma Gandhi, as you know, walked barefoot most of the time, which produced an impressive set of calluses on his feet. He also ate very little, which made him rather frail and with his odd diet, he  suffered from bad breath.  This made him (oh, man, this is so bad, it's good)
... a super-calloused fragile mystic hexed by halitosis.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA...love it

!

Now for my card!

f4a30 flat I just love Bronte and Lewis from Mo's Digital Pencil Too.! This is a long card that fits into a business size envelope, one piece of cardstock.
I printed the pun on the computer in different fonts.

F4A30 Life if Full It's colored with Copics, accented with white gel pen.
Isn't this SO TRUE!! LOL!

Now, are you wondering about the "Something Coming"?

Next week is my 3 year Blogaversary! WoW! So, I'm going to have some candy one day next week...you'll have to be watching!!

Poppers, Judges Cards and MORE Zucchini!

Judges T-Sliders blk

You saw my TY's for those that contributed towards awards for our State Fair Llama Show, but I still wanted to make the two judges a special card. Last week on Splitcoast was a really cool tutorial called T-Slide Card, I knew right away that this was perfect for my judge's cards! I even colored one of the llamas like Eagle, a black & white tuxedo beautiful boy that one of the judges owns!

Judges T-SlidersOnce again I used Lina from Mo's Digital Pencil.

Judges T-Sliders 2 Judges T-Sliders open Once you do one of these and get the hang of it, it's super easy! I made mine 4.5 x 4.5. The sentiment is from Verses rubber stamps.

Did you see the picture of the jalapenos the other day?

Jalapenos 2010 Well, over the weekend I made POPPERS! Mmmmm! I used this recipe.

Poppers peppers

Poppers filled

Poppers crumb

Poppers done

Mmmmmmm, soooo good!

Then I made Crabbiless Crab Cakes!
A good way to use up Zucchini!
I didn't take any pics...but here's the recipe!

2 C shredded zucchini
1 C seasoned bread crumbs
3/4 C grated cheddar cheese
1/2 C finely diced red onion
1 egg, slightly beaten
2 T mayonnaise
1 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
1 tsp Dijon mustard
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp fresh ground pepper
olive oil for frying

Combine all ingredients, mixing well. Heat oil in large skillet and carefully drop large spoonfuls of the mixture, gently flattening into a "patty". Fry 7-10 minute on each side until golden and cooked through. (they'll feel firm)

Well, lots to do this week...it's crunch time for State Fair!

Some Special Thank You's and Garden Talk

Lina blk state fair ty

I'm in charge of getting sponsors for the Ohio State Fair Llama Show and like to put a little special "thank you" in the show packets or send it in the mail.

This year I'm doing Lina from Mo's Digital Pencil. I just love this digi! Here are a few of them! Each one colored with Copics, sponged with Distress ink and some silver/white gel pen accents.

Many Thanks Lina

So, as I grabbed my camera to take this card shot, my eyes caught a butterfly out the window..........so I headed outside to try to recapture some of the photos that were lost the other day! Not exactly the same, but they'll do for now.

(you know if you click on the picture it will open up a little larger. also you can right click and open it in another window)

Mother's Day Sale and a Fun Card!

F4A11 blk

 Jacksonbelle Embellishments

 Mother's Day Sale!

30% off now-Sunday

Can't pass up a sale, right?!!

My card uses Cosmo Cricket

I had some fun today with this one! It's a combo of challenges from Splitcoast to Mo's! The Splitcoast challenges are to use a pin (WT269) and to use gel pens (F4A11). Mo's challenge is to use anything that includes or suggests water.

F4A11 waterI used this darling Summer Baby image that was a freebie a while back. After I got it all colored, I thought...Ranger's Glossy Accents!
Yeah, make it LOOK like water! So, I did!

F4A11 gelSakura gel pen here and there...some of it is just "pen" marks, other places I blended it in with my waterbrush!

F4A11 gel hairF4A11 duck And the pin. I used the duckie from Summer Baby Accessories. I sliced into its little neck (he didn't feel a thing!) so the dental floss could slide in there and be kept snug. YES, I said dental floss! I also colored it with a Copic to match. (learned that little trick from GinaK!) The duckie is popped up too.

F4A11 In The Pool I kept the Nestie in place, masked the image and airbrushed.

It's a gorgeous day here in Ohio...hope it's nice where ever you might be too!

Mother Nature Messing Around, MDP#24, and Peeks

daffodils blk_edited-1

Yesterday, as it was just starting to sprinkle, I went out to pick some Daffodils. They're just starting to bloom here and I wanted to get a bouquet in the house before the weather hit that the news was calling for... SNOW!

Yes, Mother Nature is messing with us... we had some beautiful "60's" days, could even sit out and drink iced tea! But, it's Spring, and I guess that means anything can happen!

Daffodils 1The small bouquet in my kitchen window... see the raindrops in the background?!

Daffodils 2

Several raindrops on the flowers too... I should have gone around the entire yard and picked them all.......but the rain was coming down harder and there were other things to do... I should have though....

daffodils snow This is what we woke up to! Ahhhh, SPRING in Ohio!

A Sketch and ODBD Anniversary Celebration

SC271 blessings blk

Our Daily Bread designs is going to be celebrating it's second anniversary on March 17th! The sticks in the bread basket are celebrating too!!! We have come up with 5 days of fun and excitement for you, so you can join in as well!!!

Beginning on March 13th, we will have a daily challenge. You can get all the details and heads up on the challenges on the ODBD blog!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Now for my cards. I did two for the sketch challenge on Splitcoast, two totally different cards!

SC271 Blessings My Lily of the Valley isn't even pushing up through the ground yet, but I can almost smell the beautiful fragrance these delicate flowers give! This is from the set Easter Blessing by Our Daily Bread designs. The leaves are colored with Copics. The layers are "fauxed" cardstock, my cheap trick, just white cardstock colored with a marker to match. The flowers themselves are colored with an Elmer's Painty pen.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

This next one is for Mo's DP2 Challenge, a color challenge using brown, blue and neutral.

SC271 no mystery blk It's colored with Prismacolor pencils blended with OMS. The background is airbrushed. I merged two different digi's for this one, Lookin for Clues and Bronte from Makin Cards.

Enjoy your day! Thanks for stopping!

Odd Colors With a Heart

WT257 blk

Now, I know what you're thinking, you're expecting to see some funky colors going on. Nope! Wrong! It's just several challenges rolled into one blog post and two cards!

The Ways To Use It challenge on Splitcoast today was "Odds are...", having an odd number of something. Then Mo's Digital Pencil #18 is All About Color... pink, red, white and had to have a heart on it.

WT257 3 Step Chickadee

Our Daily Bread designs You Will Find Refuge and Sing for Joy on the side step card... 3 steps-3 brads-3 shades of Flower Soft on this Flower Soft Garden Corners. The Chickadee is colored with Copics and embossed with clear embossing powder. The back panel is dry embossed with Distressed Lines Cuttlebug embossing folder and Martha Stewart fence punch at the top.

WT257 5 Hearts This one is Bella Hearts Bronte from Mo's Digital Pencil (actually a freebie on SNR Card Universe) It's colored with Copics, masked and airbrushed. There are 5 hearts in the air and 5 hearts in The Paper Studio punch.

Jacksonbelle Embellishments Tuesday..The Zva Sisters!

Feb9 blk

LOVE is in the air!!!
Jbelle Challenge use colors, embellishments, etc…
that represent LOVE to you!!!
Keyword ~ JBE092

My card today is just ooozing with Love! LOL! My mind has gone several different directions since reading this challenge (no smart remaks please! lol), but I ended up with this one and included the product feature, Zva Creative too!

I used Step Sisters, Mo's Digital Pencil.
Can't you just imagine what they're saying?
"I just LOVE getting dressed up for family photos"...
"I LOVE having to go to YOUR recitals"...
"I LOVE teasing YOU...you are such a DORK!"...
"I LOVE candy AND my Froggy Prince, can we go change now??!" (I never had a sister...but I had an older brother! nuff said!)

Feb9 froggySo... I LOVE to color, I LOVE Mo's images
AND
I LOVE
Zva Creative bling!
nuff said!

Feb9 zva closeup Here are the girls before they were all bejeweled! I colored them with watercolor crayons. I used a 2-way glue pen for the bling.

Feb9 zva love And after they got all prettied up! The younger sister isn't old enough to appreciate a fine jeweled necklace, so she just has those pop-together-beads! LOL! Bad enough she HAD to get her hair curled and wear that silly ol' fancy dress anyway!

The scallop layer is white cardstock colored with a Copic. (my favorite way of cheating on colored cardstock!!)

Feb9 Zva Sisters

I used Spellbinders Labels 3 to cut a couple small pieces of Basic Grey Origins (love that stuff!) and give a little different shape to the card. And there's that "Copic colored" cardstock again punched with Martha Stewart border punches. I embossed the bottom of the base with my Victoria embossing folder.
