After the Storm….a Great Time for Pictures and a Card!

I complain about the mud, yes, I hate it, but a good rain brings beauty too. In between downpours yesterday I had to step out and get some pics! I didn’t get too far as it started to spit again while I was madly snapping, but I did manage to get a few of this lily and the hostas.

I saw this quote on Facebook

I also did this card with a new image from Sassy Cheryl’s, Riding the Rapids. How fun, now I have a boy and a girl kayaker for those special people in my life!

Sassy Cheryl's Stamps, Our Daily Bread designs

Noah and his kayak are colored with Copics. I used a negative piece leftover from Memory Box Grassland Border and Puffy Clouds that turned into rocks!

I air brushed the sky then took white acrylic paint thinned with a little water, and using my finger made some clouds.

The sentiment is from Iris by ODBD.

Posts are scarce these days…it’s my busy time of year! 4H is in full swing with State Fair next week and County Fair not long after! Whew! Next will be the garden exploding with goodness!

Take time to enjoy the moments after a good rain…

This is the newest Sassy Cheryl’s digi, Don’t Repeat This, and it’s on sale right now too!! Of course Noah has a big  bit of gossip…but it could be used for anything! I dusted off an old Hero Arts sentiment. Too cute!!

Of course, it’s colored with Copics, the dp is from the Sweet stack by DCWV.

You Make Me Smile!

Sassy Cheryl's Stamps

Once in a while, when my hubby has to travel, I go along. Sometimes it’s for the scenery, and sometimes it’s to meet up with fellow stampers and just have a good time!

That’s exactly what happened this week when he had to go up to the Cleveland area. I contacted Karen, (redbugdriver on SCS), whom I’d met before at the Akron show several years ago, and set up a time for her and Nancy (stiz2003) to come to the hotel.

As luck would have it, when we checked in, there was just ONE room available….there was some cooking convention going on and chefs were everywhere! The room was perfect as it had a separate ‘sitting room/kitchen’ complete with a nice bar just right for our play time coloring!

I don’t profess to be an expert on Copic coloring….lots of trial and error, LOTS of practice and lots of just having fun with experimenting! That’s what these ladies wanted to know and hopefully I was some help to them!

They came prepared with lots of images ready to color up! The only thing lacking was ALL our colors, but we made the best of what we had!!

Since I needed to work on my Sassy Challenge card for this week, that’s what I started on.

Sassy Cheryl's Stamps

This is A Penny for Your Thoughts. I colored in the entire sky, making clouds with about 3 different Copics. I had to finish up here at home though, as I wanted to add some white acrylic paint to enhance the clouds. I just mixed a drop of paint and some water and applied with my finger, then enhanced the bottoms of the clouds with a light gray here and there! The sentiment is Stampa Rosa.

Our Sassy Challenge (this is the last of the 2 week period) is Doodling! Play along using any Sassy Cheryl’s or a Sassy Kraftin’ Kimmie image and you could be a winner of 2 FREE Sassy digis!!

Hopefully next trip we have a little more time together. We got a lot done in 2 hours, but more would be fun!

You never know… one of these days I might meet one of YOU, my readers!!

Just Doodling Around!…. #210 A Sassy Challenge

Sassy Cheryl's Stamps

Our Sassy Challenge this next 2 week period is Doodling! Play along using any Sassy Cheryl’s or a Sassy Kraftin’ Kimmie image and you could be a winner of 2 FREE Sassy digis!!

Sassy Cheryl's Stamps, ODBD

Another newer image that is right up my alley! This is Hold That Pose, Please. Joey is playing with her new camera and hoping those birds hold still long enough to get a good shot! I know all too well how that is!!

The sentiment is by ODBD, My Friend.

Sassy Cheryl's Stamps

I haven’t done a ‘different’ card for a while, so decided on a Twisted Easel and simple doodling. And, believe me…. when I say simple, I mean SIMPLE! Just wait until you see some of the other sassy cards! They took doodling to a whole new level!

210-copics

For the past few years, I’ve had a little Wren build her nest in the pipe end by one of my gates to the llamas. I love their bubbly song, and even their scolding when I get too close to their nest! LOL, they’re so cute!

One day I happened, just like Joey, to have my camera with me and waited, hoping Momma Wren would stick her head out to see just what I was doing!

Wren

And she did! But not for long! She flew off and sat in a nearby tree giving me the dickens for going through the gate! Too fun!

It’s That Time of Year!

Sassy Cheryl's Stamps

I can’t believe I have a granddaughter graduating from high school!! Wasn’t she just born a few years ago??!!

We’re in the second week of our Sassy Challenge of at least Two dies and Purple, you still have time to enter with your Sassy Cheryl’s image and possibly win 2 free digis!

Sassy Cheryl's Stamps

This is also the Sketch Challenge today on Splitcoast. Callie Celebrates is colored with Copics, cut “out-of-box” with an oval die. The numbers are from a Cuttlebug die set. DP is DCWV Sweet stack and the embossing folder is called “You”.

It wasn’t until I was DONE coloring that I realized she’ll be wearing a WHITE gown!!! Oh well, she’ll be more interested in the check inside than the coloring!!! LOL!

Speaking of purple…. I love Iris in all colors, but I’m especially fond of this “Black Iris”, such a deep, dark purple!

Black-Iris

Isn’t it gorgeous!!!

Enjoy your day!

A Couple of Dies…A Shade of Purple… #209 A Sassy Challenge

Sassy Cheryl's Stamps, Our Daily Bread designs, Copics

Our Sassy Challenge this next 2 week period is Use 2 dies and a Shade of Purple! Play along using any Sassy Cheryl’s or a Sassy Kraftin’ Kimmie image and you could be a winner of 2 FREE Sassy digis!!

As soon as Cheryl shared this digi that she was working on, I couldn’t wait to get it and color it up! A KAYAK!! Yes!!!

When we were looking at getting our kayaks I wanted a purple one! But…. the style we got I don’t think is even made in purple and the shop only had certain colors in stock anyway. Sad smile…so I told hubby I'd have to get some colorful decals or something to put on mine! I’ve yet to do that though, LOL!

Anyhoo… this challenge was perfect because I could color the kayak PURPLE!!!

This is Reckless Waves….how cute is this with Sally and Bella paddling along! I’ve yet to take one of our dogs with me, but I do have a visor and life vest!

Sassy Cheryl's Stamps, Our Daily Bread designs, Copics

It’s colored with Copics, masked and airbrushed.

209-copics

Those April Showers….#207 A Sassy Challenge

Sassy Cheryl's Stamps

YES! Those April showers SPRING May Flowers!! And snow! Yup…snow showers today! Oh well, tis spring in Ohio! We did have beautiful 70’s weather for a couple of days and I do have Daffodils galore, a variety of other early flowers blooming and the grass is green!!! Yay!

That’s our Sassy Challenge, April Showers Bring Lots of Flowers, for the next 2 weeks! Play along using any Sassy Cheryl’s or a Sassy Kraftin’ Kimmie image and you could be a winner of 2 FREE Sassy digis!!

Sassy Cheryl's Stamps

Sally is so happy her flowers are blooming, she’s running through the yard! I decided to make Pure Joy into a slider card. Sally is colored with Copics and hand cut. I sponged the clouds with Distress ink. The Memory Box Spring Border is colored with Copics and sponging, Grassland Border is also sponged.

Sassy Cheryl's Stamps

To see how I made her glide across the card, check out my friend, Julie’s tutorial on Splitcoast, Pull-Tab Slider Card. I used a craft knife to cut the opening which I didn’t like so wide, so I just covered partly with the flower border! I also had to trim down the part that attaches to Sally so it didn’t show! Easy peasy to do though!

Sassy Cheryl's Stamps

How fun is that!! I had the perfect sentiment for the inside too by Verses.

207-copics

Here are the colors I used

Sassy Cheryl's Stamps

After the snow melts, if you drive by, you just might see me running through the yard like Sally!!

Sassy Cheryl’s is now offering gift certificates and gift cards! Also, new images added!! Check them out!!!

Here are a couple pics I shot yesterday, 62*
….this morning….1” of snow and 28*!!

April 1st…Seriously?…. #206 A Sassy Challenge

Sassy Cheryl's Stamps

Our Sassy Challenge for the next 2 weeks will be “Show Us Something Silly” using a Sassy Cheryl’s image! With Cheryl’s images it’s pretty easy!

Play along using any Sassy Cheryl’s or a Sassy Kraftin’ Kimmie image and you could be a winner of 2 FREE Sassy digis!!

Well, April 1st is actually sunny and warm! I’m not holding my breath though, we’ve had snow before in April! Mother Nature has a sick sense of humor!

Since we did just have snow a couple of days ago, I had to put a little bit in my card for today!

Sassy Cheryl's Stamps

Sally is really happy it’s finally Spring, even if it means saying goodbye to her friend, Mr Snowman!

I merged You Are My Sunshine and Sally Plays a Trick, trying to make the snowman look like he was melting….his shoes off and a button fallen in the grass. Just his face looks like he’s not too happy about that big sun and his situation!! LOL!

Sassy Cheryl's Stamps

I also tried to give him a little sun reflection.

206copics

These are all the Copics I used!
The sentiment is from
North Coast Creations, Happy Spring.

Sassy Cheryl's Stamps

Hope you’re enjoying a nice first day of April (unless you’re in North Dakota where they just had a blizzard!)

Show Us Your Layers….#205 a Sassy Challenge

Sassy Cheryl's Stamps

Hmmm, just how many layers do you see or think are here? Our Sassy Challenge for this 2 week challenge is Layers!

Play along using any Sassy Cheryl’s or a Sassy Kraftin’ Kimmie image and you could be a winner of 2 FREE Sassy digis!!

{right clicking on a picture will bring it up larger in another window for easier viewing!}

Sassy Cheryl's Stamps

This cutie-patootie is a new image, Ladybug Tales. Isn’t Sally adorable, just hanging out with her ladybug friends, reading her book!

She’s colored with Copics, sky sponged with Broken China Distress ink.

If you’re going to count ALL the layers, from card base to ladybugs and clouds…. 14FOURTEEN!!!

I cut Sally out with Spellbinders Labels 21 (trimming the bottom off), then cut 3 more pieces of scrap cardstock with the next smallest die and glued them together to attach to the back of the image. It pops it up a tad without popping too much!

205-layers

The grass is Memory Box Grassland Border, 2 layers and popped up with foam squares.

205-grass

I attached the Memory Box Picket Fence to the back of the image and slid it in place behind the grass.

Sassy Cheryl's Stamps

The ladybugs are from ODBD, Zinnia and Leaves die.
