Show Us Your Layers….#205 a Sassy Challenge

Sassy Cheryl's Stamps

Hmmm, just how many layers do you see or think are here? Our Sassy Challenge for this 2 week challenge is Layers!

Play along using any Sassy Cheryl’s or a Sassy Kraftin’ Kimmie image and you could be a winner of 2 FREE Sassy digis!!

{right clicking on a picture will bring it up larger in another window for easier viewing!}

Sassy Cheryl's Stamps

This cutie-patootie is a new image, Ladybug Tales. Isn’t Sally adorable, just hanging out with her ladybug friends, reading her book!

She’s colored with Copics, sky sponged with Broken China Distress ink.

If you’re going to count ALL the layers, from card base to ladybugs and clouds…. 14FOURTEEN!!!

I cut Sally out with Spellbinders Labels 21 (trimming the bottom off), then cut 3 more pieces of scrap cardstock with the next smallest die and glued them together to attach to the back of the image. It pops it up a tad without popping too much!

205-layers

The grass is Memory Box Grassland Border, 2 layers and popped up with foam squares.

205-grass

I attached the Memory Box Picket Fence to the back of the image and slid it in place behind the grass.

Sassy Cheryl's Stamps

The ladybugs are from ODBD, Zinnia and Leaves die.

Flowers, Flowers…and More Flowers! #156… A Sassy Challenge

Sassy Cheryl's, Have You Heard, Kool Tak, Memory Box

One of the sassiest gals and uber talented Pat, is our hostess this week for our Sassy Challenge.

She’s chosen…………

FLOWERS, FLOWERS EVERYWHERE!

I don’t know about where you live, but here it’s still pretty cold and bleak… no flowers yet! In fact we’re under a Winter Storm Warning!!
This was a very welcome challenge indeed!

It’s been a while since I’ve shown you some of the steps I went through making my card, and since this one took a ‘little’ more time than most, I decided to do just that!

I LOOOOOVE how it turned out!
{right-clicking on a picture will bring it up larger in another window for your viewing pleasure}

Sassy Cheryl's, Have You Heard, Kool Tak, Memory Box

This is one of the newer Sally’s, Have You Heard. She’s cute as a button alone with her single flower and ladybug friends.. I just added a few more flowers! She’s colored with Copics, clouds sponged with my homemade cloud template. {each of the individual flowers are colored, not colored cardstock!}

Sassy Cheryl's, Have You Heard, Kool Tak, Memory Box

#156--Sngl-Flower-clsup

These are how I colored some of the Martha Stewart Hydrangea punched flowers.

And, using my embossing stylus on a piece of foam, I gave them some dimension.

#156-Stylus

#156-Copics

The colors I used

After punching and die cutting a gazillion flowers and a few leaves, fence and birds, using mostly Memory Box dies: Cherry Blossom, Tulip Petals, Spring Border, Grassland Border, Estate Fence and Nestled Bird….and sponging my clouds… I had fun putting Sally in place and gluing all the flowers around her!

Sassy Cheryl's, Have You Heard, Kool Tak, Memory Box

#156-flat

Hand deliverable for sure, didn’t want to crush any!

I also have some new product to share, Kool Tak. Do you ever work with teensy pieces and wish you had an easy tool to just pick them up??!! Or some type of adhesive to adhere the really thin stuff?!

How about a Pick’n Place Pencil and
Micro Adhesive Dotted Sheets!

Pick'n Place Pencil, Kool Tak

It’s sticky yet NOT sticky! Magic! LOL… it’s called Pick’n Place Pencil from Kool Tak. It’s a soft lead, so you don’t press too hard (ask me how I know!), it really is cool!

I used the Micro Adhesive Dotted Sheets on the fence, a little tricky, but that fence is going nowhere! I also used 1/8” Foam Pads to pop up Sally and one of the birds.

Sassy Cheryl's, Have You Heard, Kool Tak, Memory Box

Flowers on the inside too! This is the same die behind Sally, but it’s hard to see for all the other flowers!

Sassy Cheryl's, Have You Heard, Kool Tak, Memory Box

And one last shot… just because! I’ve been wanting to use my new frame brushes on something!!!

Back to Nature…#152 A Sassy Challenge

Sassy Cheryls, Better Than 1000 Words

Sassy Jeni is our host again this week for our Sassy Challenge, which is…. Back to Nature.

Sassy Cheryls, Better Than 1000 Words{right-clicking on an image will bring it up larger in another window for your viewing pleasure}

This adorable image is called Better Than a Thousand Words. How perfect with Sally and Bella watching the sunset (or sunrise…), just them and nature!

I colored the image with Copics, masked it, sponged the sun with Distress inks, masked it and airbrushed the background. With the masks still in place, I sponged some clouds (Distress ink) with my homemade cloud template.

The frame is called Orchard Tree Frame by Memory Box, I hand cut the image layer to match. I made my grass using another MB die, Grassland Border, then used the frame die again. The bird is another MB die, Nestled Bird, colored with Copics.

Now….if you’ve been following this team for any time at all, you’ll know sassy Pat is the Queen of finishing the INSIDE of cards! I love the look, but do I ever take the time to do it?? Rarely!! I’m LAZY… yup, plain and simple… L~A~Z~Y!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

#152-inside1

Not this time!! Yay for me!!

You can see I used the same Grassland Border die but this time used a little larger bird {MB}, Perched Reed Bird. When I was going through my DP stash looking for colors that matched how I’d colored the front, this Prima Sparkling Spring was perfect!

But wait… what does it say??!

#152-inside3

"Look at me, am I not beautiful with my new wings”
…Tweet” Says the little bird perched high upon the branch…

#152-inside2

The verse is by Northwoods. My layers here are Spellbinders Labels 8 & 17.

This card is jam-packed with nature!! LOL

This will be a hard card to part with…I'll have to give it to someone REALLY special!

Sassy Cheryl's, A Penny for Your Thoughts

Colored with Copics, clouds and grass are Memory Box Dies.

Then used our exclusive custom made Snowflakes Die. The paper is SEI White Elegance. I used Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Squares and Rectangles for my layers.

Are You Inspired?…#134 A Sassy Challenge

#134Inspiration

I’m hostess again this week for our Sassy Challenge! I thought it would be fun to do an inspiration challenge. I love this picture I found… I wish I could say it’s one I took of my garden wall…but, nope, I found it online!

I can dream!!

Sassy Cheryl's, Sassy Sally's Fall Pumpkin

Today I’m using Sassy Sally’s Fall Pumpkin! Cute as can be!! Do you think she’s going to carve it or make a pie?!

Sassy Cheryl's, Sassy Sally's Fall Pumpkin, OWH #139

I loved the bricks, the colors…so I sort of went with the photo design. But you don’t have to…whatever inspires you when you look at it!

It’s a Sizzix embossing folder sponged with Distress inks {as are the foliage and lattice}, Spellbinders Labels 8, Basic Lattice and Botanical Swirls and Accents, also Cheery Lynn Designs Fanciful Flourish, and Memory Box Window Box. I filled the window box with Flower Soft Autumn and Green Leaf.

Flower Soft

This is also for the OWH sketch this week, flipped.
