A Faux Tiled Christmas

TLC301 blk

One more Christmas card down!
I need to count up today and see how many more I need…crunch time!

TLC301 side

Today’s Technique Lover’s Challenge on Splitcoast is Faux Tile. I love these challenges because it MAKES me either learn a new technique or reminds me of ones I haven’t done in a long time! Like this one!  I love the look and you can really make it as simple or complex as you want. This one was a little more involved coloring in all the poinsettias, but it would have looked nice just stamped too!

I used Our Daily Bread designs Poinsettia Background and one of the new sets coming this week (Dec 1st), Christmas Blessings

Pre-order and save and you can still get your cards made in time to send! Winking smile

TLC301 Sending Love

There is a tutorial on Julie’s blog for the faux tile. After coloring, I “grouted” my tiles with a white Elmer’s Painter pen. The entire tiled layer is embossed with clear ep, All the red layers are “faux colored” with a Copic marker and Barn Door distress ink.

Lots of posts this week…so stay tuned!

thanks for stopping!

Keychains, Cell Phones and Sentiments

Amber showed me this cute keychain post-it note holder today that she made. You always need a piece of paper and how handy to have some right with your keys. (not that I need anything else on my keychain!!)

The tower of eyelets has nothing to do with the holder, just something for the ring to lay on and the holder stand up!

Basically you take a piece of cardstock 3 3/4" x 2 1/4", score at 1 3/4" and again at 2", decorate it, slap a stack of post-its in it and hopefully you have a Crop a Dile. That puppy punched through all those layers at once, slicker than snot on a glass doorknob!! Whoosh!

I added a piece inside just because I could...lol.

Today Lisa's beautiful, huge sheet of Script Essential Expressions was released at Cornish Heritage Farms. I just love this Shady Daisy paired with the Script!

Ok....remember when I stamped and embossed my cell phone? Well, it's back to being nekked! It was starting to wear off in the places most handled, so I took my thumbnail to see if I could scrape anything off. YUP! I sure could! Cleaned that baby right up!

So, for those that tried it thinking HOW COOL...sorry. For those that were thinking about it....don't! Save your time and effort and apply it to something else...lol.

Thanks for reading!!

Fun and Elegant

Hi friends! If you did some blog hopping from my last post, you might have read that CHF releases about 50 new original images a month! Can you say Wow

So, I'm going to share a couple with you. Lisa Stahl (Mona Lisa) has been so busy creating some fabulous sentiments...I LOVE sentiments! To just slap something on your card is so shallow, to me it completes the card if it says something from the heart.

This card was done for the Sketch Challenge on SCS.

This Script Essential Expressions (3 stamps used here) will be released tomorrow at CHF. It's a 'use alone' or 'mix & match' huge selection of sentiments!

The West Quoddy lighthouse was watercolored with reinkers. The Ocean Scene was split to accomodate the space of the sketch and is also watercolored with sponging added with distress inks (still on sale through tomorrow by the way!)

I wish the map were nautical, but since my son was taking a pilot's course this is the map I have...lol. I sponged it with distress inks also.

If you've seen any of the Tom Allen's Friendly Kritters, you have to smile! These singing frogs from Frog Chorus will be released next Tuesday. I get so tickled when Liz says she's working on a new one!

This card was done for the Color Challenge on SCS. The frogs were colored with pad inks and a waterbrush (the green is copics). *here's a tip* to watercolor with your inks, smoosh the lid into the pad and pick up color with your brush *wink*
