I Just Had to Try It!

One, I love this craft stamp from JanLynn …oh, and did I mention they’re having a BLOW-OUT SALE?!!BluBird

I just think this Bluebird is so cute! I love the smug look on his face!

Two, an idea popped in my head after looking at all the fabulous creations in the sketch challenge gallery today on SCS… how about trying it on a paint chip!

So…………I did!

SC231 BluBird

I stamped it with Memento Tuxedo Black and gave it a quick heat set with my heat gun. The paint chip is like stamping and coloring on glossy cardstock! The Copics don’t soak into the paper but lay on top, so a different coloring technique was in order!

Basically for the bird, I colored in short “roundy” strokes, not really circular strokes…kinda “wispy” strokes, picking up the tip as I finished the stroke…like how the feathers would look.
Make sense? Clear as mud?
For the flower and leaves I did more straight line coloring.

Sakura white gel pen was added on his eyes, beak and feathers. You’d be surprised how the eyes just POP when you do this! I also add some to highlight the flower…and obviously forgot to add any to the second flower! (lol..didn’t notice until I uploaded the pic! sheesh)

Then…I got the idea to try and emboss it, which I think turned out pretty cute! I took a scoring tool to the backside and flattened out some of the “grass” that was going through the bird.
The little Nestie square is from the strip I trimmed off of the paintchip and I just stamped the flower and leaves again on it too. The Martha Stewart fence border just finished it off! Too cute!

So, need to paint a room…thinking of painting a room, maybe the entire house! You need to go pick up samples, right? I mean, there are sooooo many color schemes out there…of course what you don’t use could be turned into a craft project! *wink*

Enjoy the rest of your day! And don’t forget to stop and check out the sale!

Thanks for stopping!

Dawn
