Day 2 in Nova Scotia…Peggy’s Cove and Around (a long post!)

Ok, don’t you love this color pattern?!! It’s the carpet outside our room in the hall! It’s a little deeper in color than it looks here…rich looking =)001

002 This is why we’re here! Lloyd has to service his equipment there. See that very LARGE, TALL bridge in the background? Yeah…we have to go over it!003 004

Just breathe…I HATE high stuff like this, it just about sends me into a panic attack! I closed my eyes not long after this!

005 This, oh, just a little side trip because we didn’t turn the way Tomtom said…all those containers, and cranes! WoW!

Alrighty then…on to Peggy’s Cove!!

006 007 008

009Now, you can’t get the full awesomeness of these giant rocks that surround the area…they’re massive! How did they form? Collision of crustal plates beneath the ocean floor forced molten material to the surface, which solidified as greyish-white coarse grain granite.

010 Looking straight down.

013

014

015018 See the guy in the upper right corner? Tiny person!…GIANT rocks!!

020

Peggy’s Cove restaurant…this is gingerbread with whipped cream…YUM!!

If you click on the picture it will get a little larger and hopefully you’ll be able to read the story.

Yes, I like lighthouses!!
Just trying to get all angles for you
and me too.

Honest…it’s big!
Ok, so we had to play a little…

While we were here at the docks, we were talking about just what do you do around here?…quite a few small houses with very small yards. “Oh, let’s go up to the Lighthouse and climb on the rocks”…yeah, seems like that would get old quick!
Although we did think what fun the grandkids would have playing on the rocks.
About that time a boat came in and docked…a local family with 2 kids, they got off the boat and as they were walking past us the son who looked about 10 or so said, “hey Dad, can I go play on the rocks?”! We laughed!! They really do just play on them for fun!!

048Just looking down into the water.

049  Just one of the hundreds of lobster traps!!

050Whale bone outside a shop.

063  At the age of 70, a local artist started carving this tribute in stone!

And from here we say good-bye to Peggy’s Cove, an awesome place if you ever get the chance to visit!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

069Before we left the hotel today, Lloyd looked up a Geo Cache…sure enough there was one not far from the cove!
The title was “Pioneer, a grave situation” (or something like that).

072The marker was just at the edge of the highway, but the coordinates led way back into the trees.
Lloyd looked all around but never found the cache =(

I went back to the truck and decided that this would be my summer home…one of them, maybe both if I get bored!

073074 075Quite different from the houses back at the cove!

A long post, but I wanted to share so much!! Hope you enjoyed it, sorry I couldn’t include the crashing of the waves and the smell of the salty air!

Thanks for stopping!!

Dawn

So glad you linked to this from your IC today - loved looking at all those pictures from Peggy's Cove. I'll have to come back and take a better look when the sun stops shining so much!! We always holidayed along the west coast of Irleand - our lighthouses aren't quite as picturesque, nor the houses, but we do big rocks and waves well :D. And gingerbread with whipped cream - yum yum.
