With all that said, here's mine. I decided to go with a scene on a shipping tag. Can you guess how many different stamps were used to make it? No skipping to the end to find out!!
I also have to tell you that this was one of those "can't sleep-get up-stamp till 4:30AM" projects!
I started out by stamping the Friendship Lighthouse (only inking the lighthouse/rocks with Black Soot and not the sentiment that is with it) and masked it. Then I inked up the circle out of Cardmaker's Shapes with Mustard Seed, rocked about 1/3 of it in Scattered Straw and rocked the edge only in Dried Marigold. This I stamped over the masked lighthouse. The sun was also masked at this point.
Are you counting? That's 2
The Ocean Scene was stamped next followed by Palm Trees. There was a space needed filling under the rocks, so I stamped just a part of the Ocean Scene again. Small Cloud was stamped randomly across the sky, some rightside up, some upside down.
Still counting?
Now the fun of coloring and sponging! The only coloring done was the lighthouse, ocean, driftwood and shells (with copic markers). After coloring the masks were put back.
I tore a piece of copy paper and started sponging off the edge using jumbo daubers and small daubers. Starting with the lightest colors first. Ooh, before I started the sky, I used a small dauber to put color on the palm trees. I just kept sponging till I got the 'look' I wanted.
Still with me this far? Still counting? IF you are still with me, you're probably wondering why the hole with the sentiment peeking through. OR if you're not wondering, I guess you'll find out anyway!
Remember when I said I stamped part of the Ocean Scene again to fill in? Well, I didn't have it positioned perfectly so there was this HUGE Conch shell at the base of the lighthouse rocks! It looked like one of those old Japanese films where the sea monster drags itself out of the ocean and starts devouring everything in it's path! I'd gone to too much work to file it in the 'round' file...and remember it's the wee hours of the morning and DADGUMMIT, I'm finishing this thing!!!
So, I spritzed the backside with water, made a little slit with my craft knife and started opening it up. Did I sponge that rolled up part you ask? Nope! That's from stamping the scene the first time and it not working!! LOL Oh, you gotta love magic paper! Make a mistake and just flip it over and start again!
The sentiment is from Time To Stamp. Ok, how many is that?!
So all the Distress Inks used on this are: Black Soot, Mustard Seed, Scattered Straw, Dried Marigold, Frayed Burlap, Brushed Corduroy, Old Paper, Antique Linen, Broken China, and Faded Jeans.
Did you come up with 6 stamps?
