Rejoice and be Glad…

Absent from the body, present with the Lord…that’s my friend’s attitude since she learned she has stage 4 cancer. Not ruling out miracles by any means…today I made her this card.

Our Daily Bread designs With Deepest Sympathy and With Heartfelt Sympathy, colored with Pebbles Pearlescent chalks. (a very quick way to color!) Prism blush red light/medium and sugar cream, with patterned paper from Provo Craft. Spellbinders, Cuttlebug embossing folders and Martha Stewart border punch finished off my design.

Another Cowboy Wanted!

After my goof up yesterday I re-did my card and did another one! That's the great thing with chalks, you can just erase!

This one, also done with Pebbles Chalks, lots of distressing and a die cut buckle from Creative Cuts and More that is gold metallic cs, a little too "bright" for this card, so I rubbed some distress inks on it to tone it down!

recipe:
stamp: wanted-whipper snapper
paper: georgia pacific white, prism sunflowers dk/island mist dk
ink: distress frayed burlap, brushed corduroy, walnut stain, vintage photo
other: cuttlebug/folder, distressing tool, die cut buckle-creative cuts and more, thick glue dot, leather strips, zip dry glue

Still very windy today, much cooler...but blue skies!

*edited* I emailed Anna the link of the finished card and mentioned that I hoped that was a horse in the background cause that's how I colored it... poor Anna....hope she didn't bust a gut laughing too hard....it's just shadows from nearby trees/bushes she informed me! LOL

*more edits* several have commented that it looks like a llama to them... actually it did to me too! this just keeps getting better! Now I'm going to have to do another "Wanted" and try to make it look like BUSHES!

This is the Sketch Challenge today on SCS. This card is slightly larger than normal, 6.5x4.25 because of the "Wanted" image and I just had to use it today!! *wink*

I stamped it with Distress Frayed Burlap then used Pebbles Chalks to color it in. It already has a border which I just made more pronounced by going over it with a marker.

All layers are "fauxed", and if you follow my blog you know it's one way I save on cardstock!

Do you ever have trouble getting a clean, clear stamped solid image like this? Here's a trick I learned and it will help tremendously if you try it! Lightly sand your rubber! Yes, sand it! Use a fine grit, I have a soft sanding block I think I got in the paint dept. Clean your stamp after to remove any dust and you're ready to go!

Quite a difference isn't there!

I'm A Little Nervous Today...Chick Designer Style Challenge

"You want us to do what?", I thought!!

Alli came up with this one...here's the challenge....in Alli's own words.
"...picking ONE member of the design team and casing either 1) something from their gallery OR 2) their style. It's as simple as that."

Hmmph, simple she says! I mean we're talking some seriously talented girls here. But you know what? Several of us had the same feelings...so that made me feel a lot better.

I chose Julia to case. I've drooled over Julia's work for years! She has such a way about her, a very creative and talented woman!...she makes me think outside my comfort zone, although I admit I haven't attempted half as much as I'd like! I had so many projects of hers picked out, but settled on this one. Isn't it gorgeous!!

Why? you're asking, as I've done Kinkades in the past, but never have I colored one with chalks nor have I tried Inchies. I was amazed at how quickly and beautifully The Rose Garden colored up! (plus my daughter still has my sewing machine, so how could I do one of Julia's fabulous stitched cards creations?!......thanks Jennifer...)

As you can see, I changed the shape of the card and added distressing to each piece. (distressing hides a multitude of flaws *wink*....designer tip, no charge) Each square is on a dimensional.

CHF Challenge Chicks Do Chalks

Whew! Now that's a tongue twister!

Pebbles Chalk was our challenge today which are on sale at Cornish Heritage through May 1st. Julia talks about the Chalks here.

It's been a while since I've used chalks and many samples went in the scrap pile! I settled on one, emboss resist.

Recently Kristine, one of the other designers, did a wonderful scene with this seagull and ocean scene...thanks Kristine for my chalky scene idea! Be sure to take a look at the all the ideas today Lesley Langdon -Kim Hughes-Lisa Silver -Kristine Reynolds -Lori Craig - Val Stangle -Julia Stainton

I stamped the seagull from Asela's Bird Sampler in Versamark, masked it and stamped the Ocean Scene in Versamark, then covered them with Glacier White EP and heated with my heat tool.

I started applying the chalks using the pompoms that come with the chalks and for tiny areas using a pointy cotton swab make-up applicator. The chalks will cover up your embossing and make it look icky! LOL...not to worry though!!

After finishing an area I'd take a tissue and rub off the chalks on the EP, smoothing them out on my paper. If an area needed to have more color, I simply applied more chalks and repeated the tissue process (PRO-cess for you Canadians...lol... little joke between us girls *wink*) I also used an eraser to take color off where I wanted some highlights or lighter color.

The beach just seemed like the perfect place to use this great new sentiment from Mona Lisa's new line coming in a few days!
