A Challenge? Sure...I'll Do It!

DP2 blk

Especially if it's a stamping one! And this one comes from Mo's Digital Challenge. You saw in my Check It Out post that she has a LLAMA!... Well, I'm hooked!

I've loved her stuff from day one...now just to add to my collection!

The challenge is "Just White". The image can be color but everything else is white.

DP2 Hugs to MarleneIt's called "Girl & Dog". Inside says, Happiness is an unexpected hug.(from Inky Antics) It's colored with Copics and sponged around the edges with whatever distress ink was left on my dauber.

Here's one I did yesterday for the Sketch Challenge on SCS

SC259 Skating By This one is called "Skating". Again colored with Copics and sponged with Distress ink.

And...another challenge? My good friend Tosh, asked if I could knit up a hat and scarf for a dear friend of hers with cancer. Bonnie lives in a part of the country where it gets snowy and cold, so a set made from llama would be just perfect!

Her favorite colors? Well, Tosh said they are yellow, orange, red... but maybe a red set would be nice.

Here's where the challenge starts!

Did I listen? No! I thought I'd dye my yarn in Bonnie's favorite colors!

natural Here is how it started... I had to spin the fiber on my wheel and ply it. That odd contraption is called a niddy noddy and makes a 2yd skein or hank of yarn.

koolaid Then I had to dye it...I used 3 flavors of Kool Aid and popped it in the oven.

yarn

swiftThis is called a Swift... it takes the place of someone holding their arms apart, holding the yarn on their hands while I wind it into a ball!

yarnball  And the ball of yarn.

hatOk, here is how it knitted up. I like how it turned out... BUT... wasn't happy with it as a set that was going to a complete stranger!

So after talking it over with Tosh... she said Bonnie's hubby wanted red... so back to dying!

REDcloseup Absolutely LOVE the finished result!! Cherry, a little Black Cherry and a little Strawberry over-dyed the previous colors!

RED finished It's a "tucked" scarf, the ends tuck through that little section.

Thanks Tosh for being patient! Hugs to Bonnie, may Lady (the llama fiber donor!) keep you warm!

Thanks for stopping

Dawn

Ouuuuuuuuu! I don't know that I've ever drooled over yarn, before today. LOVE those colours! Bonnie (and Tosh) are going to be SO thrilled! And your Mo cards! Marvelous Dahlink! You and colour are best friends. How on earth do you do your skies like that!?! My sponging looks like a blue marker barfed on the page (if you'll pardon the expression) And the sentiment...unexpected hug! RUV it!

Wowzer! Hand-spun, dyed, and over-dyed knitted hat and scarf too? They will surely give Tosh's friend, Bonnie, comfort. TFS!

Love the yarn, Dawn! I'm especially jealous of your ability to spin so beautifully. I took a spinning class quite a few years ago and even bought a used wheel that needed a little work--I've never used it. It's sitting in the basement, dusty and unloved... Oh--love your cards, too! I'm not into digital, but you've done a great job!
