Wrap Up in a Warm Quilt….Looking Back at April with ODBD

Katha-blk

Today the ODBD team is taking a look back at April’s wonderful quilting/sewing theme!

This is a special card for a special lady going through an especially hard time. She’s a quilter, so ODBD’s April release is just perfect for her!
Her
husband suffered a major stroke almost 2 weeks ago and is still in ICU. I’m sorry to post, Doug passed away yesterday afternoon.

I started by cutting 3 Dresden Quilts using Cozy Quilt Collection and a piece of cardstock. I cut a piece of the green cardstock just smaller than the quilt square, and laid a good foundation of double sided tape for my quilt to stick to.
My first quilt frame is the cardstock then I added the floral piece on top of the cardstock after putting together the ‘basic’ quilt pieces. My quilt is thick, just like a real quilt!

With the extra pieces I decided to give it more of a 3D look in the center, using foam squares to pop up the outer ends.

I hand cut the center circle only from the frame of the geometrical piece and added it along with the solid cardstock piece.

The sentiment from Healing Prayers was just perfect for Katha’s situation. (even more so now) I die cut it with Double Stitched Rectangles and popped it up on the lovely lattice looking die from Lavish Layers. My quilt and sentiment are atop the largest die from Flourished Star Pattern.

Very beautiful and unique. Would love to try this as I'm a quilter and a card maker. Wish you'd do a video of the way you put it all together. Thanks. Edna B.
