I’m pretty sure you’re going to LOVE the new designer paper this month, Patriotic Collection, I sure do! I cut strips the width of the widest die from the Pennants set and just partially cut the ends, then placed them atop the layered base with the embossed stars by Darice.
The Mini Tags die set is so versatile with lots of size and shape options, including these ‘dog tags’ which I stamped with some of the sentiments from American Hero, then threaded them on jute and popped them up. The RWB stars are from the Sparkling Stars set.
Although designed as a ‘landscape’ card, it easily works as ‘portrait’ too!
My next sample is also a patriotic one, using one of my favorite older images, Not Forgotten.
Again, I used the beautiful Patriotic Collection, which I might add, works great in other projects as well not just patriotic.
It’s colored with Copics, then sponged with distress inks, Old Paper, Frayed Burlap, and Walnut Stain. For the base DP since it comes 6x6 and I had to cut off some of the sponged edge look, I sponged with Pumice Stone….voila…easy fix!
Here’s another just for fun…
Here, I used the Gilded Gate die in black on cream cardstock. While the black cardstock was still in the die, I took my white gel pen and using the die as a ‘stencil’ added the white. After removing from the die, I took my water brush and ‘smoothed’ out the white, blending it into the cardstock making it not so stark white.
I also used a sentiment from The Gate stamped on Ornate Borders & Flower die, and embellished with Peaceful Poinsettia, Fancy Foliage, Ornamental Crosses, and Angel Wings dies.

Clever use of the key on the gate card Dawn! Love the texture on this project!!! The R, W and blue cards are so good!!!! Creative and inspiring!!!
Dawn, your cards are wonderful! I especially like black black gate.
How clever, Dawn…love the dog tags on your first patriotic card and the beautiful papers and image of the second one. Your gate card is gorgeous…love the texture, the stunning colors, and the key dangling from the foliage! All three cards showcase this release beautifully! Hugs!
Love all your beautiful cards! What a great release!
Love all your cards! I think it's a neat idea that the "dog tags" can go either horizontal or vertical on your card. Also great idea to sponge the cut edge of the patterned paper with Pumice Stone to mimic the sponged look you had to cut off. And the detailing on the gate?--brilliant! Love how you brushed out the white to knock it back. Adds just enough to make it look highlighted, without being in-your-face. Thanks so much for sharing these!
I love your cards Dawn!! Your Patriotic cards using the tags as dog tags is so clever. Beautiful use of dies. I must say, my fave though is the gate scene with the shiny rod iron gate and the flowers. Beautifully done my friend!
hugs,
Chris
