Can You Use This?… You Just Never Know!

Fishing Net Background, The Waves on the Sea, Our Daily Bread designs

A couple of days ago a friend, who has her own interior designs business, asked if I could use some fabric swatches she was going to throw away. I have a hard time resisting anything that just might be used in card making…so I took them!

I also have 2 good friends that suffered with kidney and gall stone trouble recently that I needed to send a card. Two challenges on Splitcoast sounded good…

So….why not kill two birds with one stone! Pun intended!

The sketch challenge and ways to use it, ‘discover it’, try something new. Stamping on this new fabric!

I stamped Fishing Net Background with Ranger Archival jet black, although it took some drying time, was nice and black! Mounted that on some close colored Prismatic cardstock with several pieces of Kool Tak Premium PRO double sided tape and distressed the edges.

I stamped The Waves on the Sea with Tuxedo Black, coloring with Copics. At the horizon I sponged some Worn Lipstick Distress Ink mimicking the color in the water with Copics. Using my homemade cloud template, and Broken China Distress ink, I sponged the clouds.

Then I had some fun! I love to mix acrylic paint with my coloring!

It might be hard to tell from the pic, but I took white acrylic paint and my waterbrush and added the spray around the boat and definition to the clouds. I also took my Copics and added some shadowing… the same colors of the water and the lightest gray for the clouds.

My Spellbinders of choice this time were Sprightly Sprocket and Fleur de Lis Motifs. They looked ‘nautical’ to me.

Now, if you haven’t seen the cute ‘Stamped By’ mini stamps that ODBD just released, you need to head over there!

This is Praying Hands Mini {my name is not part of the stamp, I’ve had that for years} which I thought went well with the cards and the situations!

Dawn, was wondering if I could see what the fabric looked like before you stamped on it? I have a hard time visualizing it. Great cards. Thanks for sharing.
