An Alcohol Inky Sketch!

Surging Sea, Smooth Sailing

Always up for a challenge…this is today’s Featured Tutorial on Splitcoast and the Sketch.

The tutorial is Copic Ink Background (or Alcohol Ink). Basically, you blop (technical stamping word) re-inker on some glossy cardstock, then using some shaped object and hand sanitizer (because it has alcohol in it), stamp your object over the ink and it will push away the ink, leaving a lighter spot!

Surging Sea, Smooth Sailing

I started with 2 pieces of glossy cardstock and blopped 3 different Copic colors on 1, then before they dried I smooshed the 2nd piece onto the first. I used a popcicle stick and the end of a bamboo skewer for my hand sanitizer “stamp”

I stamped the ship from Surging Sea (ODBD) in Stazon and cut it out. I cut off the flags and glued them on later… I left a couple off because they were just too tedious to cut out!

Using white acrylic paint and my waterbrush, I painted the sails…which of course covered up the image lines!! Not to worry… I stamped again, using my stamp positioner to line it up… this time using Onyx Black, embossing with clear ep.
The quote and compass are from Smooth Sailing, also from ODBD.

The wave and anchor are from Spellbinders Nautical Frame and Accents.

A different look for sure… I hope I’ve nudged you to try something a little different >grin<

Thanks for stopping!

What a beautiful card! I love the nautical stamp sets that you used from ODB.
