After a month long {emphasis on the the word LONG!} process, my kitchen is finally REFRESHED!!
Thanks to my good friend, Naomi, who said {and probably regrets saying so…} “I’ll help you, Dawn, call me when you’re ready!”
I did… and she did… and I couldn’t have done it without her!!!
It was trial and error throughout BUT we got r done!
I’ll start you out with some “Before” pics and a little history.
Our house was built in the 1860’s, we are the 3rd owners. The people we bought it from lived here 30 some years and are both long passed, installed the first running water, remodeled a little, built most of the kitchen cabinets (from scrap wood he collected from WPAF! where he worked)….he was not a ‘builder’ so a lot of things are not perfectly level or ‘finished’… LOL… but we LOVE our home and have now lived here 32 years next month!
{right clicking on a picture will bring it up larger in another window for your viewing pleasure}
Ok…here we go… tearing off wallpaper, patching holes, sanding and painting cabinets…
BTW… that clock was one of my earliest things published in a magazine!
Looks likes a war zone doesn’t it!!! Ugh!
Yes… I tend to clutter things up… I try, I really do! Hopefully with the NEW IMPROVED kitchen I’ll do better…. lol
It’s so bright and cheery too! Ahhhhh
Timothy thought the soffit would look better in the accent color too… darn it, right again!!
An art project of Timothy’s from college worked perfectly!
From a recent trip to P. Graham Dunn in the early Spring… and a real German Cuckoo clock that Timothy got when he went over there in high school.
More P. Graham Dunn… I love this Sparrow!
I got this cute Chickadee hook at Mennards. Perfect for my hand towel.
Old bottles etc that we’ve collected over the years, some found buried here. And, yes, I know the sign isn’t in the middle! LOL…I thought it was when I hung it!
Didn’t even have to get new handles… Lloyd took his wire wheel to these and buffed years of grime off!
Our funny wall!
God certainly has!
Well, hope you’ve enjoyed seeing what got done. If you’d like to try doing your cabinets, I know all the things NOT to do!!
Next is painting the living room and more P. Graham Dunn pictures!!
Thanks for stopping!
Dawn

Dawn - I love your kitchen make-over! Timothy's artwork looks fabulous. In fact, I love all of the artwork on your walls.
I would like to paint our kitchen cabinets a soft cream. Unfortunately, only the cabinet doors are solid wood, so I'll have my work cut out for me learning how to cut and install beadboard on the island and on the visible ends of the cabinets prior to painting. Having an artist for a DD will come in handy for decorating the walls and/or the soffit.
Well Done on your lovely "new" kitchen!
Hugs a'plenty - dlm.
It's so gorgeous! All that work takes forever, I know, but it's so worth it. Stunning and so bright. Timothy’s art is incredible; it fits in so well with all of your decor. Happy Sunday xo
