I Know Fall is Just Around the Corner!

IC300 blk

It’s “harvest” time here, I’ve been canning beans and tomatoes and freezing corn and peas! I did 20qts of tomatoes the other day, could probably do another 20 today!! YIKES!!

CannedTomatoes

And I’m going to make a BIG batch of salsa!!

But, right now I’m sharing a water color with you!

I used Our Daily Bread designs Pumpkin and Pumpkin Die, just released and Scrolly Borders (from last month’s release). They’re both stamped on water color paper (Marco’s) in Stazon Jet Black. I used Adirondack re-inkers.

IC300 1

I start by wetting the areas I’m going to WC, here it was the pumpkin itself. This helps the colors blend together (keeps you from getting dark spots from your color “attaching” itself to dry paper!) and helps keep it contained to the area.

IC300 2

Caramel, Butterscotch and Rust to start.

IC300 3

Continue to add color, allow to dry (heat tool works great!) and move to the next area (here, it was the leaves). On the Pumpkin I added Ginger. The leaves are Lettuce, Oregano and a little Pesto. The ground is Latte and Espresso.

Note the curly tendrilsthis is what happens when you apply color to an area that is wet and you might not want that color to extend beyond the stamped lines! I had light washed the background and hadn’t let it dry! BUT, because of the next step, it didn’t matter!

Using the Pumpkin Die…. easy peasy and really changes the look of your project!

IC300 4

Here, I’ve used the die to make a template to mark where the actual die will be placed. All I have to do is line up the die with the marked circles!

IC300 5

Hold your die with some tape or sticky notes and run through your cutting machine. Here, the Cuttlebug… plates B&C.

IC300 6

I wc’d the Scrolly Borders to match.

This card was done for the Inspiration Challenge on Splitcoast. My inspiration was this Terra Cotta Pineapple set.

Well, I’m burning daylight and the garden is calling! Enjoy your day!

Thanks for stopping!!

Beautiful coloring and the whole card is gorgeous, the pumpkin looks like it is glowing - and your tomatoes look delicious also! Our garden has come and gone and I didn't get to can very much because of the heat, but I'm thankful for what I did get! Good luck with your canning and freezing and I will be looking forward to your next post.

Do you share your salsa recipe?
I have one I'll share with you, but it is eaten fresh, not canned. I'd like a good canned one, if you don't mind sharing your recipe.

You are a genius! Have I told you that lately? I got some watercolour paints a while back & haven't had time to use them. Now I need to asap. I love love LOVE how you made a die cut template & then used the die but also cut some by hand. Cleverness!
