A Chalkboard Pumpkin…in Blue?

f4a82 clsup

It’s been a hectic week what with the garden and tomatoes up to my eyeballs… seriously…lol. I made some yummy spaghetti sauce and canned 7 quarts! I’m sure next week I’ll be putting up more!

Then I’ll be at the Wool Gathering tomorrow, spinning and sharing the llamas. If you’re in the area, come visit!! I know a couple of my stamping pals are going to stop by.

So…. I had to take a break from “Martha Stewart’ing” and do some of the challenges on Splitcoast from this week. The Sketch, Ways To Use It, and Free For All. The WT for the entire month of Sept. is “back to school” theme. This week is “chalkboard”. You can find a tutorial here. What you’re doing is stamping on dark cardstock with white ink, then coloring with chalks. I tweaked the technique a bit by also coloring with Prismacolor pencils, blending with baby oil.

The F4A challenge is Mostly Blue.

I used the new Pumpkin stamp and matching Pumpkin Die by Our Daily Bread designs. I stamped it on blue cardstock with Adriondack Snow Cap, colored it with Pebbles chalks then added the pencil.

But…I added dimension too, by using my stylus.

With the Pumpkin on foam, I used my stylus to define the lines. Then I flipped it over and using a larger stylus, went over the image between the lines.

Totally changes the look from a flat, dull image to one that looks almost real!

So, I was using my new Bo Bunny Welcome Home DP and hated to cover up the cool picket fence on the one piece….

No problem! I just added my Vintage Picket Fence from Cheery Lynn Designs! And I love my Fanciful Flourish, also from CLD, and since the challenge was to use a lot of blue… I used the scrap pieces!

Have a wonderful day!

Thanks for stopping!

You are just too amazing. All that “Martha Stewart’ing” sounds yummy. And this tweaking of the SCS technique is crazy brilliant. All the texturizing makes it look like metal. WOW! You Rock!
