Buttons & Bugs & Poinsettias...oh my!

LSC Butterfly block

Today's Limited Supply Challenge on Splitcoast is to make a Long/Tall card. Why don't I do these more? I love the look! I have two to share with you today.

First, Button Bugs newly released from Angels Landing.

LSC247 Congratzzz It measures 3.5 x 7. Using my light table, I traced the My Minds Eye paper using the printed image as a guide. Then I cut out the pieces and glued them in place. With my piercing tool, I made the holes to actually SEW...yes I did!...on the card!

LSC Butterfly closeupI used variegated embroidery floss. My faux buttons are 3 punched circles each from the base layer, glued together, pierced, embossing ink painted on, clear ep sprinkled and heat set... one more coat of embossing ink and more ep!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

My next card combines the color challenge from this week too!

LSC247 Ps 96 11 This uses the newly released Blessed Christmas from Our Daily Bread designs and Spellbinders Labels 4. Colored with Copics, sponged with Distress inks Mustard Seed, Scattered Straw and Brushed Corduroy. The base is Prism Herbal Garden and the trim is by Prima.

and the inside...

LSC247 Ps 96 insideI used the same size Labels 4 die for the ends, then traced the center part and cut freehand to the ends, layered on Curved Rectangles. It's sponged with Mustard Seed, Scattered Straw, Brushed Corduroy and Shabby Shutters.

The card measures 3.5 x 6.

Thanks for stopping!

Wow! I love the look of the embroidery back-stitch on your butterfly card. Your poinsettia card is breathtaking. Love your colouring; great use of nesties; lace is fantastic too!

You made your own buttons and you actually sewed that card? That's priceless. I like the way you've done the bottom button border, too.

The poinsettia image looks fantastic inside that Labels 4 shape. The sponging is really rich and adds depth.

Lovin the long tall card. More stitching. How brilliant to add it to the flutterby wings & the colour variation looks great. LOVE the deep rich distressing on your poinsettia card & the label shape too. Classic!
