Small Pleasures

Well, I think I've turned the corner. Thanks for all the well wishes. May this bug sicknot invade anyone in your family or mine!!

I wanted to try and get a couple more examples done for Asela's release today and luckily had this little guy colored already!

I tore a piece of copy paper and laid it down over my cardstock where I wanted the 'edge' of my forest to start and stamped the Trees Backgrounder twice in Latte. Notice no edge lines? I only inked up the middle of the image thus eliminating any edge definition!

I went ahead and stamped the Squirrel where I wanted him. This served two purposes, his whiskers and eyelashes would be tedious to cut out (remember I had him colored already and waiting to be mounted) now those lashes and whiskers are there and I can trim close to the colored image. It also gave me the grass that is around this little guy so I could blend in the cut out image and he wouldn't look like he was just plopped there!

Added some Tall Weeds and I was ready to sponge and add some copics highlights!

Since the trees are bare but the squirrel has grass around him, I tried to give the impression of the first of Spring...plants and trees are just starting to green up but you can still see the sky. Sponging with Distress inks gave me this soft spring feel.

Mr Squirrel is only attached at the grass line. I curled his tail a bit by running my fingernail along the edge of it and also along his body. This made it stand out and gives a 3-D effect.

Thanks for stopping bywink

You did a great job on Asela's squirrel, Dawn! I especially like the way you used the trees backgrounder so creatively--fabulous!

Adorable card Dawn, so glad you're feeling well enough for a bit of creativity again. The trees BGer is perfect as a backdrop for this little fellow, love it!
