A Christmas Pop-Up

930 ccm blk

It’s my turn this week to do a post for Die Cut Diva, a blog that shows you how to use all the fabulous products from Creative Cuts and More!

Hoping to get a little head start on my Christmas cards, I chose to do a Pop-Up card using one of the new sets available tomorrow at Our Daily Bread designs, Christmas Door.

930 ccm front

The card is Bazzill Canvas Wisteria, pre-cut and scored, ready to add your finishing touch! I colored Christmas Door with Copics, adding some Sakura white gel pen and Marvy Embossable markers for the berries. The berries are embossed with clear ep. 930 crp door930 snow

Then I added some Marvy Snow marker and puffed it with my heat tool. The cool (no pun intended!) snow at the bottom of the door is, Snow Mudd Puddles.

930 mp clsp

Mudd Puddles comes in a variety of colors and textures. It goes on “wet” but dries hard yet your cardstock etc. is still pliable! Adds neat texture!

That’s SEI Silver Valley dp, and for my door layer, I just colored some white cs with several Copics to match. I call it faux cardstock.

If you’re a regular follower, you’ll remember I had something special coming… and coming… AND COMING! Well, hold on to your hats! I’m hoping next week to have a super duper special GIVE-AWAY!

Stay tuned and thanks for stopping!

Christmas is Coming in October…from ODBD!

SC352 blk

You're just going to love this release coming up from
Our Daily Bread designs!

SC352 Embossed Christmas

Here you see Holiday Ornaments that match up with Spellbinders Holiday Tags. And that fun background… is the same paper that is the vertical layer, embossed with the Victoria folder! It’s also the sketch challenge this week on Splitcoast.

My good cyber friend, and oh-so-talented Mel, reminded me of this fun Emboss Resist technique. I’ll let her explain it all since she went to all the trouble with pics and all! Such a sense of humor…she’s a hoot! Check it out…

                   **WARNING**
you can spend hours on her blog!

So, this is what my background piece looks like…

SC352 embossed clsup

Sure changes the looks of DP doesn’t it!

Mel’s is much neater than mine, but I still love how it turned out. I used Ranger Distress Black Soot reinker to “blacken” my paper.

SC352 clsup

I sponged the Ornaments while in the dies. The silver “brads” are leftover from the Mirror paper punched the other day from the Chipboard Ornaments! Merry Christmas is also embossed on more Prima DP and Spellbinders Labels 23. The red layers are “fauxed” cardstock… I just drug my Ranger Distress Barn Door over the edges of white!

One more Christmas card down… how many to go?!

Officially…It’s FALL! Sassy #83

Sept27 blk

Fall, my favorite time of year! I love sweaters, hoodies, dressing in layers, colors, the crispness in the air, the crunch of leaves under my feet, hot tea, cocoa and cider, the fresh air smell… ahhh
… and it means Winter is close behind, which I also love!

Now before I share my card and our challenge… we’ve got some changes to tell you about AND
a
Sassy Cheryl’s special!

  • We are going to make the challenges less challenging.  Think simplified! Challenges will be things like, use a Die Cut, Anything Goes, use Blue, etc.
  • The DT will be required to use a Sassy Cheryl’s  image, but those who would like to enter will not be required to do so.  We just want YOU to be able to participate.
Also, if you do decide to use an SC image, you’ll be counted twice in the drawing!

Our Sassy Challenge is to use
Fall colors

Sept27

This is Cup of Cocoa, isn’t she a cutie-patootie! She’s colored with Copics and a Sakura white gel pen. I cut around just the back of the chair to insert my Basic Grey “wallpaper” and popped the chair up on dimensionals.

Sept27 clsup

For the floor, I just used more Copics, the chisel end, dragging them along the cardstock. The “baseboard” is just a scrap colored with a Copic.

Make Your Own Chipboard Embellishments

tlc blk

Today’s Technique  Challenge on Splitcoast is to use pattern paper and cover chipboard.
Well, I wanted my own design, not pre-cut chipboard, so I made my own!

Our Daily Bread designs Holiday Ornaments, Elegant Ovals and one of the verses from Christmas Door… ALL peeks at what’s coming October 1… and corresponding Spellbinders Holiday Tags and ODBD Elegant Ovals for my festive Christmas card!

TLC chipboard1

I stamped the Holiday Ornaments on Mirror paper with Ranger Distress Black Soot (distress inks stay wet to hold embossing powder!) and heat embossed with clear ep. Then using my Grand Calibur and Holiday Tags I cut them out. I cut 2 pieces of thin cardboard for each ornament.

tlc side

I used Zip Dry glue by Beacon to put them together. I love that adhesive, it’s very forgiving… you can move your pieces around before they become stuck fast and if you get any glue on places you don’t want, all you have to do is rub it with your finger and it rolls right up without leaving any residue! Cool!

tlc clsup

I used the same technique with ODBD Elegant Ovals and Elegant Oval Frames, using Versamark and silver EP. For the verse, from Christmas Door, I used Black Soot and clear Ep. Prima North Country is the paper.

The base is DCWV’s Christmas Stack, perfect to hang my ornaments with silver embroidery floss!

If I keep it up, at this rate I won’t be scrambling at the last minute to get my Christmas cards done and out!!

I hope I’ve inspired you to try something new!

Llamas At The Library

The library at Pleasant Hill invited us over today. My 4H kids couldn’t make it, but Isaac, our oldest grandson said he’d help. So we loaded up Buttons, Fusion and Annie and off we went!

A nice little group that I think truly enjoyed getting up close and personal with llamas!

This young man was hesitant and wouldn’t even get close and decided to go inside and check out a book. When he came out, he had a whole different attitude and couldn’t get enough of the llamas!

Not Too Early…..

CCM Sept23 blk

To start those Christmas Cards!

This is a peek at some new sets coming from Our Daily Bread designs! Holiday Ornaments and Christmas Door.

CCM Sept23 frnt w red

I started by stamping then masking the door to do some faux wood grain for the background. I drug Ranger Distress inks Old Paper, Antique Linen, Tea Dye, Pumice Stone, Weathered Wood, Brushed Corduroy and Vintage Photo over my cs then scored the “planks” on my Scor-Buddy.

CCM Sept23 side clsup w red

Christmas Door itself is colored with Copics, Sakura white gel pen, metallic silver and fine point Sharpie markers. I took a gazillion, if not more, pics and just couldn’t get the colors to ring true. It looks a lot better IRL! LOL

Here’s the inside….

CCM Sept23 inside full

Holiday Ornaments colored with Copics, white and metallic gel pens. Spellbinders Holiday Tags and 2011 Heirloom Ornaments hang freely in this Accordion Card from Creative Cuts and More. The nice thing about CC&M is everything comes pre-cut and scored, ready to embellish to your liking!
The Heirloom Ornament is cut from Mirror Paper from ODBD. The Accordion Insert is embossed with Holiday Ribbons… running it through my Grand Calibur two separate times to get the entire piece. Silver embroidery floss attached at the back of the fold allows the ornaments to dangle freely.

Fresh From the Garden…

351 blk

A while back I had hinted at something coming, something exciting and fun…. WELL, it’s still coming! I was hoping to do it mid July, then it rolled around to the end of August…. THEN… I thought how cool it would be for my Blogaversary….but I think that will roll by without much fanfare also!

But stay tuned…. I do have something coming one of these days that I think many of you will grab at the chance to win! Oops… did I just give a hint?! Winking smile

And all those tomatoes from the other day? Eleven quarts of yummy spaghetti sauce, seven quarts of plain tomatoes, and nice pot of spaghetti sauce for our dinner last night! Mmmmm good!

~*~*~*~*~*~

Now, on to my card!

351 2

The Sketch today on Splitcoast is a fun tri-panel one. I flipped mine vertically to accommodate the image and turned it into an easel card.

SC351 Picked Just For You

I stamped Seed Packet in Distress Bundled Sage and also made a mask (stamping again on a large sticky note) and cut out only the “window” portion. Placing the mask over the image, I then stamped Dahlia in ColorBox Chalk Dark Peony, Rouge and Pink Pastel. The flowers were then colored with Copics. (forgetting that Chalk inks and Copics don’t play nicely together….they didn’t listen to Mr. Rogers, I over-stamped the flowers again in Dark Peony to redefine them)

Lots of distress sponging with Tea Dye and Bundled Sage, embossed edge is embossing border Iron Works.

351 blk

I also took each panel and scored 1/4 inch around the edges using my Scor-buddy.

The Spellbinders Ribbon Tag Trio 3 and sentiment from the Garden Tag Set is popped up as my stop for the easel.

It’s raining today so that means we can’t pick anything which means I get the day off!! Yippee!!

Enjoy your day!

Flower Power! Sassy Challenge #82

Sept20 blk
A fun Sassy Challenge this week, Flowers! Wow, how many of Sassy Cheryl’s images have flowers… A LOT!
Play along, just be sure to use one of her images as your focal image…you could be a winner!

Sept20
I chose My Little Flower, isn’t she sweet! She’s colored with Copics with a little white gel pen for accents. The sentiment is from MFP’s Autumn Glory. The flowers are also from MFP. The DP is DCWV’s Pocket Full of Posies. Vintage Picket Fence is from Cheery Lynn Designs, Spellbinders Grommet Tags for the sentiment, and Martha’s leaf punch for the flowers.

A Wool Gathering on a Beautiful Day, and Meeting Up With Some Stamping Friends Too!

This event, A Wool Gathering, has grown by leaps and bounds since I first started going some 10-12 years ago… from one dinky tent to 3 huge ones, a regular size and lots of vendors set up outside! Any thing fiber related you can imagine!

Annie

The last few years I’ve been with the “Animal” tent where people can get a hands-on feel of different fibers and what animal it comes from. This year Annie and Fusion went along. Annie was a big hit because of her spots…although I did one little kid run in and say… LOOK, A GIRAFFE!!!

AnnieFusion

It was a gorgeous day that brought a huge crowd. If you’re anywhere near the area, it still goes thru tomorrow, Sunday. Lots for the whole family  to enjoy if you go to Young’s Dairy or restaurant afterwards too!

My stampin’ buds from Miamisburg came along with their families. Karen and her daughter-in-law, Jenna!

KarenJenna

Then… I knew my ODBD DT pal, Angie and her hubby, Tom were coming from Indiana…what I didn’t know was that she had talked to Kelley who, along with her husband, Rick, planned to come too!

KellFusion

KellAnnie

KellAng1

KellAng2

It was a never-ending stream of people!

Then…. Monsi and her family came! Monsi is one of my oldest stamping friends from when I was a newbie!

MonsiMaryMargaret

We even took some llamas down to her house for a birthday party…. back when her kids were much smaller! My, how they’ve grown!!

So, that was my day today. I got some much needed spinning done, enjoyed talking llamas and the company of good friends!

Thanks for stopping!
