I need to make Thank You cards for the Awards Sponsors at our Ohio State Fair Llama Show! Cheryl  drew this awesome llama just for ME for this very occasion, and called it Dawn’s Llama! I made this one an Appaloosa.

osf1

I printed 6 at a time and started coloring with Copics!

osf appy1

This is the Appy just colored… then I soaked a small rag with Blender Solution and went over the body…this gives a “textured” look.

osf appy2

See how it softened the spots?

osf5

Then I masked them and airbrushed. Each card will be different that’s for sure! Oh, and I’m not done yet! Glad I still have about a month to get them finished!! Winking smile

June28 OSF TY

In PSE7 I removed the dots from the ribbon and added my wording.

I embossed the TY layer and sponged with Distress inks. The card base is sponged with Distress inks to match the DCWV paper, the layer behind the llama is “faux” cardstock… I used white cs and colored the edges with the same Copic as the ribbon to match. To get that layer I just traced the outside of the same Spellbinders #12 die and cut it out.

Black, White plus One Color… that’s what this challenge from Frosted Designs is all about! Creative Cuts and More is sponsoring this challenge and you could win this awesome
Sea Life Mini Album Kit!!

The CC&M design team was asked if we wanted to play along and I immediately thought of this Color Block A2 Mat (Black Neenah Smooth) that I had in my stash!! I just love these mats!

FD Blocked Not Forgotten

Using sticky notes to mask the blocks, I stamped this new set coming July 1 from Our Daily Bread designs, Never Forgotten, in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with Copic YG91 then embossed the bottom left block with Provo Craft’s Love embossing border.

Be sure to check out all the fabulous inspiration at Frosted Designs, and Here too… play along and maybe YOU could be a winner!!

It’s all colored with Copics and some white gel pen dots and accents. The purple layer is “faux cardstock”… a Copic marker to match the butterfly around the edges of white cs!

June21 gc inside

Just To Spend Them With You…

sc337 blk

Jared has several weddings he’s invited to
and I know he hasn’t given a thought to cards
or probably even gifts!
I figured I’d better get a head start before it hits him and he says…
“MOM!! I need a card for tomorrow!”

Today’s technique challenge on Splitcoast was to make an “Old World” card. I’ve been wanting to play with the new set, Time, from Our Daily Bread designs, using Mel’s Gesso technique… this was the perfect challenge! Remember I told you Mel has sooooo many awesome tricks. I really don’t think her mind ever stops running!

So, I started by “painting” Gesso on to a pieces of cardstock and letting them air dry.

sc337 gesso

Your paper will curl but will flatten out as it dries.

Then I ran this piece through the Cuttlebug with my Sizzix Steampunk embossing folder by Tim Holtz, and sponged with Distress inks.

sc337 emb

sc337 spng

I also took a sanding block over the entire piece to distress it more.

sc337 sand

It’s such a cool technique! It makes your project look like plastered walls.

sc337 save

I stamped the song quote in Walnut Stain and clear embossed before running it through the Grand Calibur with Spellbinders Lattice Rectangles. This piece was also sponged with Distress inks and sanded.

sc337 side

Another cool thing about the Gesso is it lets the ink stay wetter longer so  it allows you to move it around! I stamped the clock image from Time in Pumice Stone, then taking my ink applicator, sponged over.. this removed the ink some but left like a watermark of the image!

sc337 clsup

Lots of distressing with the distress tool and some “on purpose” tearing and curling finished off my layers. I also sponged the card base so the curled/torn edges wouldn’t reveal stark white cardstock! (this is also last week’s sketch from Splitcoast)

SC337 SaveTime OldWorld

stamps: time, save time- our daily bread designs
paper: gp white
ink: ranger distress pumice stone, vintage photo, walnut stain
other: gesso, paintbrush, sizzix embossing folder, cuttlebug, spellbinders lattice rectangles, grand calibur, ink applicator, distress tool, sanding block, clear embossing powder, foam mounting tape

Friends…and the Newspaper

F4A69 blk

Remember the other day when the 4H club went for a walk and just happened to stop at the Country Bulk Barn to get ice cream? Well, I sent a couple pics into the local newspaper and………
today’s paper has the pics!!

UrbanaNewsLlamas

Too fun right?!

Now…. Friends

Today on Splitcoast, the challenge was to pick one of  our SCS friends and case a card. I’ve made many online friends over the seven years I’ve been a part of SCS! Joanne (jojot) was one of my first close friends, a real cheerleader! I even got the chance to meet her several years ago when we went on a business trip/vacation!

004

Here is her card

And here is the card I did.

F4A69 Dearest Jojot

Joanne even sent me those Prima flowers! I stamped Bird & Butterfly Labels and Time on pink Vellum and because the ink didn’t dry right away, I sprinkled clear embossing powder over it and heat set. Using Spellbinders Labels 18 that matches this set, I carefully cut around the embossed area on the Vellum then using the same size die cut the mat.

For the background…now, this is a little different…NO… a lot different! LOL

I adhered fabric to cardstock using Modgepodge and stamped Crocheted Background in Faded Jeans. Then I embossed it with Kassie’s Brocade embossing folder. I added a little color with a Copic marker to keep with the design in Joanne’s card.

F4A69 clsup

This awesome method I learned from another dear online friend, Mel! She has so many tricks up her sleeve that she makes my head spin! Sooooo talented!! If you ever need an idea, how-to, template or just want to be inspired stop by her blog.

F4A69 side

I also added some color with a Copic and Sakura white gel pen to the butterflies and flowers. The dotted piece is Swiss Dots embossing folder dotted with white gel pen (not so neatly!). The foliage is Martha Stewart punches.

Now, I need to go pick raspberries! Yup! The reds are ripening!! YUM! Going to be an awesome berry year!!

Thanks for stopping!!

A Walk and Ice Cream Too!

LlamaWalk 6-14-11 a

We usually take a walk into town several times during the 4H year, not all the kids could make it last night…so this is the crew! I love the “llama butt” shots!

LlamaWalk 6-14-11 b

Everything is a learning experience, we encounter dogs, kids running up (and adults!) and we always stop at the park to do obstacles…. jumping over, going under, weaving through. Um… what’s wrong with this picture! LOL!
Actually they’d already done some and were letting them graze before moving on. Levi, though, is desensitizing Tobi touching places where she doesn’t like.

LlamaWalk 6-14-11 c

We even walk through downtown! It’s funny to watch them look in the picture windows and wonder who that fine looking llama is! We stopped for ICE CREAM at the Country Bulk Barn.

LlamaWalk 6-14-11 d

And just WHY can’t WE go in???

LlamaWalk 6-14-11 e

Shadow, the “kid” of the group thinks Katie should share her Cupcake ice cream with him!

Never a dull moment!!

#68 A Sassy Tent

June14 blk

Noooo, we’re not going camping! It’s a card, silly!

Our Sassy Challenge this week is to make a Tent Card. What fun! You can play along too, just use a Sassy Cheryl’s image. All the info is on the challenge blog.

This Father’s Day Snooze just cracks me up!
Perfect for a birthday or any other “guy” related need too!

June14 tent

It’s colored with Copics, masked and airbrushed. The sentiment is from Verses Rubber Stamps. I used a Martha Stewart punch for the tree leaves, Deckle and “ribbon” scissors (don’t know what they’re called… have multiple blades to cut thin strips), Floral Screen embossing folder and Spellbinders Lattice Rectangles/Classic Rectangles. The DP is SEI Sunny Day.

Quilted Blessings… and Some Amazing Pipes!

TLC329

I love it when I can combine a challenge and a purpose! Today’s Technique challenge on Splitcoast is “Patchwork”…using up scraps etc to make a background. And what better DP to use than Basic Grey’s Sweet Threads! This will be a birthday card for a good friend.

TLC329 pieces

These are the scrap pieces I started with and just adhered them to a piece of cs and zig-zagged the seams.

TLC329 Quilted Blessings

I attached my “patchwork quilt” to a piece of Prism cs and zig-zagged the edges.

The sentiment is from one of the new sets this month, Serve the Lord, Our Daily Bread designs. I added the fun Making Memories flowers with a brad and glue dot.

***************

Now, you’re probably wondering about the pipes since this card obviously doesn’t have any on it!! Confused smile

My fourth oldest… second to youngest…?…. however you want to look at it, Timothy, was asked to sing the National Anthem at the CrossFit Regionals held in Columbus this past weekend. Unfortunately, he didn’t ask anyone to to record him doing it! Annoyed

He did find one person that partially got it on video…choppy, but at least I got to hear him! It has to be the shortest version ever of this song! Winking smile
