Need a Gift Card, Tag or Box?…#66 Sassy Challenge

May31 blk

Our Sassy Challenge this week is to make a Gift Card, Tag or Box… any or all of those would come in handy right about now with graduations, birthdays, etc!

You can play along too, just make sure you use a Sassy Cheryl’s image. You could win a $5 gift certificate….what fun!

I chose a gift card holder and used this adorable Juggling Heart Bear.

May31

He’s colored with Copics and some white gel pen accents. I used Martha Stewart’s drippy border punch to make my grass and gift card holder on the inside. The sentiment is from Mark’s Finest Papers, Here Comes the Grad. The Spellbinders die is #8, the cardstock Prism, another Martha punch for the leaves and the flower eyelet from the Eyelet Outlet.

Your Hands and Your Heart

CCM Dahlia blk

Another sneak peek at more coming from
Our Daily Bread designs next week!

CCM Dahlia

This is Dahlia and Serve (Full of Grace Series)

CCM Dahlia clsup

I stamped the Dahlia 4 times, the first time inside the card, then I colored them with Copics and Prismacolor Pencils. After coloring, I used an embossing stylus on the back side, using a foam pad, to shape and round out the petals.

I cut out 3 of the images and popped them up over the main flower….then filled in with lots of foliage using Spellbinders Foliage and Martha Stewart Branch punch. The triple bow was tied on my Bow Easy.

For those of you that might not have the means to cut shapes like this circle, Creative Cuts and More offers a variety of precut and scored items. This is a Circle Window A2 Card with Mat. CCM also has a wide variety of cardstock to choose from, this is Neenah Smooth and Flamingo Bazzill Canvas. I love the texture! It sure makes creating easy to have the work done for you!!

A Sneak Peek… and a Fun Project Too

ThankYou card combo

Our Daily Bread designs has some wonderful sets coming June 1st! This is Serve The Lord, Crocheted Lace Background, Crocheted Circle Die and Crocheted Border Die.

It’s my turn this week to do the “Time With” post on the ODBD blog. Here I have a “Post-it” Note holder with custom made sticky notes and card. Sit back and get inspired to make oneWinking smile

For my cover, I stamped the crocheted circle from Serve The Lord two times. I colored the California Poppies with Copics, then using a Spellbinders Circle die cut out the circle, then trimmed closer with scissors. These I layered and popped up with foam dimensionals on more circles as shown. You'll need another circle for your back side also.

ThankYou holder

Here's how I did the custom sticky notes to match

ThankYou card postit die

Starting with 5-6 sticky notes at a time (any more than that and the die won't cut through), the Crocheted Circle Die, and your machine of choice (I used a Cuttlebug) cut a stack of "Post-its", sticking them together as you cut them.

ThankYou card postit scor

This is my piece that will hold the front and back together and allow space for the notes inside. Score 1/4" either side of the middle. (I used my Scor-buddy, always at my side!)

ThankYou card postit tape

I applied Scor-Tape and adhered to the inside front and back then placed the sticky notes inside.

ThankYou card postit open

ThankYou card postit side

For the card, I stamped the Crocheted Lace Background and "faux layered" it...meaning I took a black Sharpie marker and ruler around the edges. This saves on cardstock and bulk!

ThankYou card

I stamped the crocheted circle twice and again colored with Copics. I also cut the circle using the Spellbinders circle die and trimmed closely with scissors.

The Crocheted Border Die matches the image that is part of the Serve The Lord set...so pretty! I stamped it twice, die cut and put them back to back. I also just used the die to make some black trim to layer behind.

The sentiment is also from this set and is cut with Spellbinders Grommet Tags. I custom colored the brads with a Copic to match my Poppies.

ThankYou card clsup

I hope you’ve enjoyed this and been inspired to try it too!

Time In A Bottle….

sc334blk

An all time favorite song from my teen years…ack…was it really THAT long ago??!!.. Time In A Bottle, by Jim Croce, is one of the new stamps from Our Daily Bread designs, Blessings Collection also a new collection! Available June 1st.

sc334 clsup

Another new set being released is Time. A large lovely clock face, perfect for scrapping or cards with several sentiments and scriptures.. a must have!!

SC334 Time In A Bottle

This is the sketch on Splitcoast today, flipped to accommodate the quote. I used Bo Bunny Timepiece and embossed it with Cuttlebug’s Clockworks. Also with the same DP, I used Spellbinders Sprightly Sprockets in my Grand Calibur, such a cool die set!

The clock and quote are sponged with Ranger Distress inks, Antique Linen and Frayed Burlap.
The quote is faux layered, meaning I used a black Sharpie marker and ruler on the edges. Saves a little bit of bulk. Winking smile

Speaking of TIME…. I could sure use more of it! Or maybe I should say, more time=days with LESS rain! I just started shearing this week!! I have 4 done of the 14, (my own). I also have a half dozen or so that I do for others! Today though, even though it isn’t raining at this minute… I think I’m giving my hands a break from the clippers and get some stamping deadlines met!

Here is Dapple, my very first cria (baby llama and now 12) and his new hair cut. He’s such a sweetie with very nice fiber too! He’s an Appaloosa, just like in the horse world.

Dapple 5-23-11

I always have the 4H kids help with their llama. Last night we got 2 done while the boys were unloading hay and the rest of the group were practicing Showmanship.

TobiSheared 5-24-2011

This is Tobi and Levi. We tried a new “do” on her this year. I really like it!! And once Levi has her all groomed up, she’s going to be gorgeous!!

Well, that’s some pieces of my week… hope you’re doing well and getting the things done that need done! LOL

Pawsitively Terrific!

TLC326 blk

Remember back a few weeks, my trip to Mississippi and me meeting a cyber friend, Shirley?

ShirleySwoope Strbks1

Well, in our gabfest she mentioned this box she made with a carrying case for her Copics. I told her she was just TOO organized!! “Oh”, she said, “I’ll make you one!!”

Imagine my surprise last week when this box arrived and in it was my awesome box/carrier…. AND she’d made a smaller version for my DD, Amber too! HOW SWEET IS THAT!!!

copiccase1

She uses double-sided quilted fabric…isn’t it beautiful!!

copiccase2

The flaps have Velcro so there is no worry of a spill!

copiccase3

She makes all these little boxes too!

copiccase4

This is how I had my Copics… and trust me, I’ve had to pick up more than one spill in several vehicles! Not fun!

copiccase5

And this is how they look now!! I even have a “little” room for a few more colors! (actually, if I’d refill some that need it….it would be full!). How cool is that! I have it propped up too so it’s at an angle and easy to see each one!

THANK YOU SHIRLEY!!!!!!!

TLC326 Pawsitively Terrific

Today’s Technique Challenge on Splitcoast is Sentiment Underneath. I’d had this Inky Antics, Peek Over, colored and sentiment stamped since the trip! I’ve got a bazillion things to do this week, deadlines, AND I need to start shearing … in between t-storms! So, I kept it really simple!!  The kitty panel is attached by a brad, then I cut out one of the Paw Prints and stuck it to the brad with a glue dot! I scored the cs with my Scor-Buddy and added 3 more brads. The cute DP is DCWV’s Pet Stack.

Now, I’m outta here and getting busy… uh… busier!

I Remember it From My Childhood…

shadowblk

That bright shining object in the sky was called the SUN! See? Shadows! Cast by the Sun!! And the sky was blue! Here in Ohio we’ve had so much rain, but we were fortunate to have a gorgeous day Saturday for the Upper Valley Fiberfest!

Not all my 4H kids could make it, 5 of the 9 went along with their llamas. It’s always good for them to get out with the public as they get asked all sorts of questions….good time to test their knowledge! Sit back and enjoy.

Katie and Shadow … wait for us!

LilBoyLilGirlLady

The highlight of any time we take the llamas out is seeing the little kids as they get to see one up close and personal, sometimes for the very first time, to touch it and to feed it!
Here, Lady decided it was time for a rest and had kushed. (that’s what it’s called when they curl up “cat style” and lay down) She’s a big girl but not so intimidating when she’s at eye level!

LilGirlLady

I love this shot!

LilBoyLady1

Lucky for the llamas since we’ve had so much rain it also means the grass can’t get mowed as often and the dandelions are everywhere! It’s always fun for kids (young and old) to pick some and feed them to the llamas!
This youngster wanted to feed Lady dandelions…BUT… he also wanted to eat them himself! Hence the look on Lady’s face, he had just offered her some then pulled back with “no, maybe I’ll try a bite first”!

LilBoyLady2

Ahhhh, finally! With Mom’s help,
Lady got to eat the dandelions!
He was too cute!

We always take a few obstacles along so the public can see some of the fun things we do with the llamas.

KatelynLevi

Of course there’s always a future 4H’er that wants to try! Katelyn’s mom was in my club 10 yrs ago and worked with Tobi as a yearling!
