Butterflies, Rainbows and Hoarfrost

ScallopButterfly Faith clsup

An odd combination for sure! LOL!

Yesterday I awoke to another beautiful Hoarfrost that lasted well into the afternoon! I hadn’t gone out and taken any pictures because, frankly, it was just plain COLD! But then Jared called on his way home and said, “Mom! have you gotten any shots of this?!” So….out we went!

These were taken about 2:30pm.
I had some fun with Photoshop too.
Enjoy!

clicking on each picture will bring it up larger

It’s not often Jared lets or even wants me to take pictures of him, so I jumped at the chance! Seriously…we didn’t even do Senior pics! He didn’t care. Surprised smile

He was really into “Finger Lakes” by Tommy Emanuel in every single picture! It was cool (no pun intended… cause it was COLD!) out in the complete stillness and just the sound of his guitar! I did finally get him to smile.

NOW, the butterflies and rainbows will make sense.Winking smile

Today on Splitcoast, the Ways To Use It challenge is rainbows. Here’s my card.

ScallopButterfly Faith

I used an A7 size Fancy Frame Window Scallop from Creative Cuts and More. Everything comes pre-cut and scored and Terry has a huge selection of cardstock colors and textures!

The stamps are this month’s release from Our Daily Bread designs, Single Butterfly and Die, and Faith. I stamped the butterfly bg several times over the card front to cover. I used Prismacolor pencils, blending them with baby oil. The single butterfly is popped up on dimensionals over the punched Martha Stewart foliage.

This will be my last post for a few days as I’m heading out to CHA in the morning!AirplaneOpen-mouthed smileHopefully I’ll have lots to share when I return!

Faith…A Guiding Light

sc317 blk

I’ve wanted to use this DCWV Garden Party paper ever since
Our Daily Bread designs came out with this set,
but I kept forgetting! Imagine that!
Anyhoo, the sketch today on Splitcoast
was perfect as I could use several prints from that stack and a variety of stamps too!

sc317

This is Faith from the Full of Grace collection, the Butterfly Single and Die, Large Butterfly Background, and the Butterfly Embossing Plate .  I colored the butterfly with Copics, then clear embossed before die cutting.

Greetings In A Waterfall…Sneak Peeks…and News!

CCM MFP WF2

I know I’ve been a little MIA lately! The reason? Well, I lost a week being sick with some sort of flu bug…knocked me for a loop! When I don’t feel like stamping, you know I’m sick!
Then…
BIG NEWS
I’ve been busy making samples for CHA…
why?….

BECAUSE I’M GOING!!! woohoo!! Surprised smileOpen-mouthed smile
I’ll be helping Kelley (
Our Daily Bread designs) demo and make & take at the Spellbinders booth!
And I have a BIG surprise to share…Winking smile

If you remember, back in December, I told you that Our Daily Bread designs had been chosen by Spellbinders to be a Preferred Stamp Partner company! I designed this set to coordinate with Labels 18!! Here’s  a sneak…. Exciting!!!

Labels 18 Sneak Peak set

**********************

Now, on to my card. I was asked by Papers and Pixels to do a guest spot. This is the card I designed for that, but they thought it was a little too involved and since I didn’t have step by step pics, they declined it.
(but I did do another card that will appear on Feb 15 Winking smile)

This is a sneak peek at a set coming in Feb. from
Mark’s Finest Papers.

CCM MFP WF frnt MFP

And surprise, when you open it… it’s a waterfall card!

CCM MFP WF both watermarks

Here, I used the waterfall mechanism from Creative Cuts and More. I embossed the edges with Cuttlebug’s With Love embossing border and the center pull with Polka Dots.

What’s so cool about Creative Cuts and More is that everything comes perfectly cut and scored! This is Bazzill’s Pear Crush, Blackberry Swirl and Super Smooth White.

CCM MFP WF3 You need a strong adhesive, I used White Tear-able Tape, that stuff is great!

CCM MFP WF4

CCM MFP WF frnt DL

The DP here is Basic Grey Curio which is distressed looking on all edges. Obviously when you cut into the piece you’re going to lose some of that look, so… I just used a dark marker and some distress ink on those edges! I did the same to the sentiment piece to match. All images and ribbon/trim from Mark’s Finest Papers and the set is called Greet The Day With Gerber.

Creative Cuts and More January Blog Hop…Hearts!

Jan19 Brighter Day blkThanks for joining us
and I’m sure you’ll get lots of  ideas
as you see what the girls have for you along the way!

I’ll be starting the hop but you can always go to Die Cut Diva’s blog for the whole line-up!

Here is what I have for you.

Jan19 Brighter Day

I used Heart to Heart (small) out of chipboard. I smooshed my Versamark pad over them, sprinkled with red Ranger Distress embossing powder, heat set it. Then I did the process again using red Ranger Puffy embossing powder and heat set. To link the two sets together, I cut through one heart, slipped the other through, added more embossing powder and heated it. This sealed the cut! The verse is from Hearts, Hearts, Hearts by Mark’s Finest Papers.

My second card is a Slash Folder with Tag #5  and Heart Picture Frame.

Jan19 Pocket1

I embossed the front of the pocket with Kassie’s Brocade and used White Tear-able Tape on the tabs. The heart is stamped and embossed. The stamp is one from the same set as above, stamped randomly over the heart.

Jan19 Pocket2

The small heart is also from that set and is colored with Copics. The quote, I believe, is PSX.

Buttons and Bows… Sassy #46

Jan18 clsup

As you can tell by the title, our Sassy challenge today is to use buttons and bows!

**************

Sassy Cheryl's is running a 'Just Because Sale' through Tuesday night. No special reason, she just felt like a sale.

All digi stamps as well as the Commercial Licenses are 10% Off.

**************

I used Bee Mine…too cute huh!

Jan18

She’s colored with Copics and sponged with Shabby Shutters while still in the Spellbinders oval die. I actually had a set from Whipper Snapper, Bee-lieve In A Cure, that had the sentiment!

The bee on the bow is a button with the shank removed. The fun paper is Cosmo Cricket Garden Variety.

SNOW and Airbrushing!! Sassy #45..

hoar frost blk 1-9-11

How appropriate! Our Sassy challenge today is SNOW! Why is it so perfect for today?

  1. I love snow!
  2. We’re supposed to get 3-5 inches today!!!

This might be a little longer post than usual because I have lots to share with you Winking smile

Sunday we had a Hoarfrost..it’s so beautiful when that happens, I had to take a few pictures! It was 8*!

A deposit of ice crystals formed in the same manner as dew except that the temperature of the objects on which it forms must be below 32 degrees Fahrenheit, and the dew point temperature of the air must also be below the freezing mark.

hoar frost3 1-9-11

hoar frost5 1-9-11

hoar fros6t 1-9-11

I’m sure Cheryl didn’t have me in mind when she drew this Winter image, but I can so relate!! LOL

Jan11Snow

She’s colored with Copics, white gel pen highlights, masked and airbrushed.

Here are the steps as I created this background.

Jan11 step a

I colored her first, made a mask from copy paper and using 2-way glue put it over the image.

Clicking on a picture will bring it up larger in another window

Jan11 step b

Jan11 step c

Jan11 unmask

Peeled off the mask and voila! Then I added some puff paint and heated it to puff it up.

Jan11 sidepuff

Jan11 clsup

Always start with lighter colors and work to darker. Imagine where there might be shadows and get closer or spray the area several times until you get the desired look. Work in a sweeping motion for best effect. I never know what it’s going to look like until I peel the off the mask! haha!
