Jacksonbelle.....Down to Our Last Goodbye

Jun29 blk

What can I tell her
That I haven't told her
That would change her mind
Cause she heard that line before
Now all that's left for me
Is just the memory of all
Those happy days gone by
Now we're down to our last goodbye

Well, this is it, Lindsey known to many as Jacksonbelle is closing her cyber doors. *sniff sniff* I got to meet Linds several years ago, what a sweetheart. I wish her the very best in whatever the future holds for her!

Many of you might also know she is a Willie Nelson lover!! LOL
Us girls on the DT have said our "goodbyes", sent cyber hugs, and now we're here at our last blog post! So, I found this song by Willie. and took this part...HUGS LINDS!!!

Jun29She still has some items left in the store at 75% off.

I used this Flutter DP by Making Memories. The image is a digi from Sassy Cheryl's, I Pledge Allegiance. It's colored with Copics and sponged with Distress ink. For the pink nestie layer, I used my craft knife and carefully cut around the die then colored the edges with a Copic to match. The out-of-the-box flag is popped up on a foam dimensional.

Please stop by and leave some love for the girls...we could all use a hug!

A Special Thanks...and a Sneak Peek!

AW blk

The Lord Bless You and Keep You

If you remember back to some of the graduation pictures, you'd see one with the choir director, Mr. Wilbur...this is for him!

For as long as I can remember he's had the kids sing this song at their final concerts, graduations, and the kids themselves always got together in the hallway at the end of the musical, held hands and sang it. It always brings a tear to see the seniors all holding hands as they sing one last time together at graduation before heading out into the big old world!

So, my choice of stamps was a no brainer! Our Daily Bread designs From Me to You, God Loves You and Scripture Series I.

AW TagI used a shipping tag, Tim Holtz style. You know.. drop some reinkers on a craft mat, spritz with water and drag your tag through it. Then I embossed the verse, using Distress Black Soot and clear ep.

I also stamped the flowers with Black Soot and embossed them, colored with Copics and fussy cut with my craft knife.
I sandwiched the cording between the tag and a piece of cardstock cut to fit.

AW clsup

Two of the larger, popped up flowers are from the God Loves You set.
The edges are sponged with Distress Pumice Stone.

AW gm When it was all done, I gave it a good spritz of Glimmer Mist, Pearl and Honey Dew.

Thank YOU Mr. Wilbur for your dedication and wonderful song choices throughout the years!

Now, for the peek!

SC286 blkTomorrow, Innovative Stamp Creations, will be releasing some fabulous sets! I'm tickled Betsy asked me a while back if I'd do some freelance for her. (shhhh....I even have several ISC being published in a book, due out in Aug!! shhhhh)

Today's sketch challenge on Splitcoast was perfect for Take Flight.

SC286 Enjoy iscIt's colored with Copics, cut out of the box and sponged with Distress inks in the background. I gave the butterflies a little pizzazz with some Shimmerz. I used Martha Stewart's Garden Trellis deep punch back to back for the horizontal panel.

Sc286 shimmerzFor once I started out with my paper to guide me my colors! Usually I color away THEN pick my DP! LOL! This is SEI Jocelyn.

Shiver Me Timbers...A Sassy Birthday!

Jun22 blk

Our Sassy Cheryl's challenge today, #17, is to make a birthday card.

Jun22 Avast Ye This is Pirate's Booty, is this cute or what! I colored it with Copics, made a mask and airbrushed the background with the Copic Airbrush System. A piece of scrap paper torn into "wavy" lines was used for the "ocean". And, actually, the same piece was used for the clouds!

The sentiment is computer generated. Avast ye is from the Dutch term for 'hold fast' and means "Stop and pay attention." Freebooter from the Dutch for 'free' and 'plunder', reference to a pirate.

Butterflies, Berries & Ben....oh my!

TLC278 BLK1

A card with butterflies...
a cobbler with berries...
and my grandson Ben then and now!

Today's challenge on Splitcoast is a Magical Marquee Card. Jan Tink has a great video on her blog -------> here. It might take some fiddling if you change shapes and sizes, but it will work! (ask me how I know!) LOL!

TLC278 front This is a peek at one of the new sets from Innovative Stamp Creations, Beautiful Butterflies III, being released this week. I did several kinds of emboss resist. I stamped the butterflies in Versamark and used Pebbles chalks over them. (you can see the colors IRL). Then, using my stamp positioner, I stamped them again and clear embossed them. I started at the top and sponged Distress Wild Honey, flipped it and sponged Chipped Sapphire from the bottom up to meet the Wild Honey, overlapping a little to blend.

TLC278 inside fullHere it is totally opened. I sponged the inside with what was left from the Wild Honey on the dauber. That STARK WHITE was just icky!

I stamped 2 of the butterflies, colored them with Copics, smeared them with Versamark and clear embossed them. This really makes the colors POP and they're so much easier to cut out!
The proscenium (Prism Twilight med.) is dry embossed with Polka Dots (Cuttlebug).

TLC278 butterflyI didn't like the Candle Glow marquee (the curtain pieces that slide apart) just being naked, so added the butterfly. I had to cut it apart because when it was opened the one wing hid part of the sentiment! I drew in the antenna, they're too fiddly to cut out!
I just used a Martha Stewart 2-way glue pen to put the glue where it was needed so it wouldn't stick to the curtains as they pulled apart.

TLC278 inside partialTLC278 sentimentBefore it was entirely assembled, I marked where the sentiment would go, stamped it and sponged the area with Wild Honey. Then like a watermark, I inked up the butterfly, stamped off and stamped over the sentiment.

TLC278 blk Can't even tell...pretty cool huh!

I made this cobbler for dessert yesterday. It's a recipe a friend gave me some 30 odd years ago! It works great on any fruit! You can add a little cinnamon if you use apples. Oooh, it's so easy and ever so yummy! Recipe follows...

rasp cobbler1 Of course I started with fresh picked raspberries! Some of those reds are bigger than the first joint on my thumb!

rasp cobbler2 Then the batter goes over the berries....then you pour a sugar syrup over that and bake!

rasp cobbler3 I actually could have doubled the batter for the amount of fruit I had, but it turned out good anyway.

rasp cobbler4 clsupI was trying to catch it bubbling as it was fresh out of the oven...but you can't tell! Mmmmmmmm!

Here's the recipe: Batter Cobbler   Bake 350* for 1hour

  • fruit in a 9x13 baking dish
  • 1 stick of butter, melted
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 cup milk
    combine and pour over fruit
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
    combine and pour over batter

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

And finally... about four and half years ago my son brought home this cute little puppy. A Jack Russell/Boxer mix. It was to be HIS dog...he has since left home, BUT, Jack still lives here! Why wasn't I surprised?

Anyhoo...here is a picture of Benjamin with the "new" Jack then...

IM000260.JPG

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA AND with Jack........now!

BenJack He still thinks he's a lapdog!!
