A Technique Peek and Gatlinburg Fun!

TLCBlessKeepYou blk

I'm hosting the Technique Challenge today on Splitcoast for Holly, who is taking some time away with her hubby, celebrating 28 years of wedded bliss! Happy Anniversary GF!

I chose to do a tent card after seeing it on Dena's blog. I'm using one of the new sets being released tomorrow from Our Daily Bread designs, From Me to You.

TLCBlessKeepYou closeup TLCBlessKeepYou sd

Mine is 5x5. I cut a piece of plain white cardstock 5x10, folded it in half and lined the inside with a dry embossed piece of Prism, which is what?...Bazzill now? The rest is pretty much put together like Dena's tute.

I stamped the flowers several times, coloring with Copics, then Versamarked them, sprinkled on clear ep and heat set. This makes fussy cutting a lot easier! The verse is embossed on Basic Grey Green at Heart. The charm is on a piece of metallic embroidery floss attached from the fold so it's free hanging.

The girls have some amazing projects to show you tomorrow for our blog hop release!

Last week we went with our son and family, our good friend and pastor, to Gatlinburg. We had a beautiful cabin with a wonderful view. I enjoyed getting up very early, making coffee and sitting out on the deck...just me and the birds! Ahhhh!
We went hiking, sight seeing and took in a show that was amazing.. the Chinese circus. Now, I just need a vacation from my vacation! Here's a little taste of our trip.

As always, thanks for stopping!

A Digi Turns Into a Quilt...and other fun pics

HannahQuilt AL duckcow_edited-1Back when I was on Angels Landing design team, my one daughter who is into quilting was over, and I showed her this idea I had. Why not take these cute digital images from Toys On Wheels and Alphabet Train, and make a quilt! She loved the idea and started designing her pattern. HannahQuilt (Judi)
My good friend, PSE7, and I started sizing the digis, my daughter cut her quilt blocks (9x9) and we taped them onto printer paper so they would easily run through the printer. She embroidered each block, sewed it all together, then hand quilted it.   **correction! Jennifer reminded me we had a slight accident with the printer on a block, so she ended up tracing the images.(she was limited on blocks and didn't want to take any chances...lol)
we have done a quilt before though, running the material through the printer....see pic below**
HannahQuilt Angels LandingIsn't it darling!! She gave it as a shower gift, baby will at least know what letters lamb, cow, duck, elephant and puppy start with! LOL

So, PLAY with those digis! They're not just for making cards!!

A couple of weeks ago, I looked out my kitchen window, and this is the sight I saw. Oh NO!! The hammock flipped over and tossed Jack out!

Jack Hammock 1No, not really...on a really windy day it'll catch the hammock and knock it over. Jack just happened to be sunning himself!

Jack Hammock 2  I called his name and disturbed his nap! LOL

Last Saturday, Los Llameros de St Paris (my 4H club), set up at the Upper Valley Fiber Festival. Eight of the 9 kids were able to go, we took some simple obstacles to show people some of the things we do. It's always a good experience for the kids as they get asked all sorts of questions....hopefully they've been paying attention and know the answers!

The kids had spent some time during the week grooming to make the llamas a little more "public" presentable. As you can see, Tobi decided she should go with the "just off the farm" look!

The kids found this nice spot for a group shot. Too bad we were missing Jared!

Then we had a special visitor. One of my first 4H kids brought her daughter to see us. Katelyn had NO fear of these MUCH larger than her llamas! LOL

My Time With Dawn Post from ODBD

If you're looking for my Sassy Cheryl's and Jbelle post...it's below this one...thanks for looking!

18th blk
I love to find mark down and second hand items to alter! I got this plaque on some reduced rack somewhere some time ago! Perfect for this new set,
As You Graduate! I just covered up the picture with Prism cardstock cut to fit...embossed another piece with Cuttlebug folder, Victoria, and sponged it with Distress ink.

18th HangerI stamped the image in Black Soot Distress ink and immediately heat set clear embossing powder on it. Then I sponged it with more Distress inks, Tumbled Glass, Stormy Sky, Crushed Olive, Bundled Sage and Pumice Stone.
The Scripture is also embossed, edged with a black Copic marker to match the image, then lightly sponged and popped up on foam mounting tape.

18th trees18th FS closupI added Flower Soft along the pathway to match the paper flowers that also have Flower Soft stamens.

18th flowers  18th budsI used Beate's tutorial to make this particular flower. I used Spellbinders Daisy Heads for these, although I've used the scalloped dies before too, for a little different flower look. The paper is some older DP from my stash, Vintage Blue Flowers by Paper Pizazz. Then I added filler with Martha Stewart punches.
(I've had a question of how  I made the stamens and how I made the flowers so big. For the stamens, I used wire, put a drop of 3 in 1 Glue by Beacon on the end and dipped it in the FS and let it dry..it dries quickly. For the flowers, it just depends on the size die you use. Daisy Heads worked out to about  1 1/2 in across. I did cut between some of the petals to help it shape better. The 2 leaves are from the same die set)

I love the fact that this set is so versatile and not just for the grad!

Well, I hope I've encouraged you to try something new...pick up that alterable item at that yard sale next time! You never know what treasure it could turn into!

Thanks for stopping!

A Sassy Jacksonbelle Combo..and a Chance at Being a Sassy Guest Designer!

May18 blk

Our Sassy Cheryl's Challenge #12 is to use buttons, and our Jacksonbelle Embellishments Challenge is a sketch. JBE106

clip_image002

May18 Happy Birthday As you can see, I flipped the sketch to accommodate my adorable new digi image, Birthday Cake Desire, from Sassy Cheryl's. It's water colored with Adirondack reinkers, highlights with a Sakura gel pen. The cake has Liquid Pearls an Stickles on it.

Basic Grey Origins, from Jacksonbelle Embellishments, went just perfectly with my colors! (I rarely choose my paper first...but, color the image THEN pick my DP!)

May18 bear closupI went around the edges of both rectangles with my black Copic, then threw some Magic Mesh behind just because! I like how it turned out! I threaded my buttons on dental floss (no, it wasn't used floss! ewwww, I ran my black Copic over it first!).

In addition to Sassy Cheryl's random pick for a $5 gift certificate, we are looking for a Guest Designer from this week's entries.  Sassy Cheryl and the Sassy Girls will be selecting their favorite entry, and that person will join us in a Guest Designer Spot. How exciting is that!

The winner will be on the Sassy Cheryl Design Team for the week of June 1st and will receive three free digital images from Sassy Cheryl's store.

So, if you ever wanted to be part of a Design Team here's a chance to try it out and get some experience. We hope you will play along.

May10 ISC

This is Fancy Frame Window, Stonewash Canvas, stamped with Flourishing Ivy by Innovative Stamp Creations, the inside is by Stampabilities. All I did was highlight the image with a white gel pen. I went around the window also with a Mulitliner and gel pen.

May10 closup I love the texture of this!

May10 scallopI took my black Copic down the scalloped edges, then dotted with my gel pen. The card measures 5x7.

My next card uses Cross Window, Kraft, 5x7.

May10 cross odb_edited-1This is from the set, For the Graduate, by Our Daily Bread designs. I stretched out the image to cover the front by stamping just a part of the image again to the right of the cross. It's colored with Copics, highlighted with white gel pen. The clouds turned out kinda cool as I used my old template and sponged off the edge with Adirondack Snow Cap...my template has lots of layers of ink on it which sponged off with the white!

May10 cross closup rt I positioned the scripture so it would show through the cross opening.

May10 cross side

I hope you've enjoyed the hop thus far!! So many creative, fabulous things to see!! Now, it's time to move on to Gerrie's blog to see what she has waiting for you!!
