Paper Tole With ODBD and Helmar

flowers blk

It's been some time since I've really taken the time to do an intricate card...mostly it's stamp it, color it and slap it together! Maybe add a ribbon or some bling! HAHA

I decided it was high time I reeeally played with this set, Mom, from Our Daily Bread designs, being released Thursday... so I did Paper Tole!

It took a while... not so much all the cutting, but because I used Scrap Dots by Helmar which needs sufficient drying time. **edited** some people have asked if Scrap Dots has an odor or if the tip gets clogged. It has a very slight odor...I had to actually go and get the tube to smell it....so, obviously it didn't make a smelly impression on me while making the card! LOL! Also, does the tip clog up? No, it's free flowing all the time! flower helmar1_edited-1Scrap Dots comes in a tube, squeezes out like thick snot after a bad cold (eewwww, sorry...LOL, but I thought it was a good comparison) and dries stiff! Once it's dry, those leaves and petals aren't going anywhere! You can make your "dot" as tall or as small as you want.

flowers helmar2 flowers helmar3 flowers helmar4 I stamped the floral image 3 times, colored certain flowers and leaves and cut them out....and set them aside while I assembled the base.

FlowersHelmar274 This is the Sketch Challenge on Splitcoast. I stamped 2 borders from Vine Borders on Basic Grey Green at Heart, and carefully cut them out. *The striped panel was elongated by using my stamp postitioner and stamping it twice, then I drew in the straight line with a fine tip artist pen. I also cut the panel in half, vertically, to widen it and make it fit the sketch! I also colored in the leaves with a Copic and the flowers with a gel pen.

*The green panel is colored with a Copic marker  and cut in half horizontally to stretch it out to fit the sketch.

Since the striped paper has what looks like stitching, I faux stitched the base and corners of the quote. Zva bling is on each corner of the green panel.

Place Them In Their Best Light

TLC266 blk

Treat your friends
as you do your pictures,
and
place them
in their best light.

Today's Technique challenge on Splitcoast is Inside Out, finishing the inside of your card. Something I admire in people who always have a fancy inside, but rarely do! I usually just slap some sentiment in it and be done!

I decided to play with a set I've had for a while but, to be honest, was a little....no, A LOT! intimidated by it. It's Friendship from Innovative Stamp Creations... a beautiful set. I just wasn't sure I could color the face with enough definition! I like how she turned out though, and with practice she can only get better, right?

TLC266 face I stamped on Prism Kraft and colored the entire image with Prismacolor pencils, blended with baby oil. then I went back over most of it with Copics.

The cool thing about coloring over Prismas with Copics is you can still move the color around with your blending stump! Yeah, really! It works! AND... you don't use as much because the ink doesn't soak into the paper...it stays wetter longer on top of baby oil or OMS! Cool, huh!

TLC266 Best Light The butterflies are colored strictly with Copics. That cute little background stamp is part of the same set, I stamped it in Adirondack Willow and Salmon. The sentiment is from another Innovative Stamp Creations set called Nature Silhouettes II

TLC266 Best Light insideNow, I should take the extra few minutes to finish EVERY inside!!

stamp: friendship, nature silhouettes II- innovative stamp creations
ink: memento tuxedo black, versamark, adirondack willow, salmon
paper: prism kraft, intense kiwi, georgia pacific white, sei green at heart
other: prismacolor pencils, baby oil, blending stumps, copics, sakura white gel pen, clear embossing powder, spellbinders square/deckled rectangle, glue dots, martha stewart deep edge punch, foam mounting tape, fine tip artist pen

Remember the pictures of the daffodils in the snow? Well, they've all popped back up and are blooming! Yippee!!!

Proverbs 31: 25-26
She is clothed with strength and dignity,

and faithful instruction is on her tongue.

Another peek at one of the new sets , Mom, coming April 1st from Our Daily Bread designs.  I stamped the floral image twice around the embossed verse, then cut around it, sponged with distress ink and went around the edge with a Copic marker to define the edge.

Mother Nature Messing Around, MDP#24, and Peeks

daffodils blk_edited-1

Yesterday, as it was just starting to sprinkle, I went out to pick some Daffodils. They're just starting to bloom here and I wanted to get a bouquet in the house before the weather hit that the news was calling for... SNOW!

Yes, Mother Nature is messing with us... we had some beautiful "60's" days, could even sit out and drink iced tea! But, it's Spring, and I guess that means anything can happen!

Daffodils 1The small bouquet in my kitchen window... see the raindrops in the background?!

Daffodils 2

Several raindrops on the flowers too... I should have gone around the entire yard and picked them all.......but the rain was coming down harder and there were other things to do... I should have though....

daffodils snow This is what we woke up to! Ahhhh, SPRING in Ohio!

MDP24 The challenge at DP2, a sketch this week. I just love these girls...lol. Watercolored with reinkers, highlights with white gel pen.

Let The Celebration Begin! ODBD 2nd Anniversary!

Cotton Chickadee blk

Since we are celebrating the Anniversary of Our Daily Bread designs, we will be focusing on gifts for Anniversaries. Cotton is the traditional gift for the second anniversary. Today’s challenge will be to use Cotton in some way…. stamp on cotton, use cotton ribbon, make a cotton flower… get creative.

As with all the challenges this week… this challenge was announced on Mar. 7th here on the ODBD blog so you could get a head start, and we hope you have the chance to play along with us, you have until 8:00 pm EST tonight to link your creation to Mr Linky on the ODBD blog! The only stipulation is that it must be new work, no back links please! The winner will be chosen by random and will receive a $15.00 Gift Certificate for stamps from the ODBD Store! The winner will be announced on the ODBD Blog post tomorrow when the next challenge is issued!

Now, here's my project... The keyword is ODBD2AC1

Cotton Delight This is one of those $1 wooden frames, and you'll never guess what I used for my Cotton! Give up? It's my old clothespin bag! I just couldn't throw it away...one of those "it might come in handy for something"! And it did! I cut out the center with my square Spellbinders and stamped the verse from Easter Blessings on that piece. Then I stamped, masked and colored (Copics) the daffodils from Happy Easter. On another piece of the cotton, I stamped and colored (Copics) the Chickadee from You Will Find Refuge. I glued the cotton to a piece of cardstock for support and cut it out. The flowers are 4 sizes of the large scalloped rectangles Spellbinders, put together, gathered and "shaped" into a flower. In the name plate is just the word from Happy Easter stamped on cotton, glued to cardstock.

A Sketch and ODBD Anniversary Celebration

SC271 blessings blk

Our Daily Bread designs is going to be celebrating it's second anniversary on March 17th! The sticks in the bread basket are celebrating too!!! We have come up with 5 days of fun and excitement for you, so you can join in as well!!!

Beginning on March 13th, we will have a daily challenge. You can get all the details and heads up on the challenges on the ODBD blog!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Now for my cards. I did two for the sketch challenge on Splitcoast, two totally different cards!

SC271 Blessings My Lily of the Valley isn't even pushing up through the ground yet, but I can almost smell the beautiful fragrance these delicate flowers give! This is from the set Easter Blessing by Our Daily Bread designs. The leaves are colored with Copics. The layers are "fauxed" cardstock, my cheap trick, just white cardstock colored with a marker to match. The flowers themselves are colored with an Elmer's Painty pen.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

This next one is for Mo's DP2 Challenge, a color challenge using brown, blue and neutral.

SC271 no mystery blk It's colored with Prismacolor pencils blended with OMS. The background is airbrushed. I merged two different digi's for this one, Lookin for Clues and Bronte from Makin Cards.

SC271 No Mystery

Enjoy your day! Thanks for stopping!
