One More Down...How Many to Go?

HisGiftFSblock

I love the challenges on Splitcoast for several reasons, it's an ever learning process and it helps me get my Christmas cards done!

This is another sneak peek at one of the new sets from Our Daily Bread designs, His Gift, being released tomorrow. Be sure to stop by tomorrow so you can see the beautiful DT creations!

This card was done for yesterday's Featured Stamper , Mrs. Boz, and this is the card I cased. (I had to flip it in order to accommodate my image)

FS147 His GiftThis is a gatefold card. It's entirely airbrushed with Copics. I stamped 2 of the image, masking to do the background, cutting one poinsettia out and popping it up over the other. I cut around some of the petals too, shaped them and popped them up a little higher than some of the others.

HisGiftFSSugarDustI put a thin line of Zip Dry glue around the edges and dipped them in Sugar Dust.

Here is the inside...

It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like... Winter!

SC256 blockThe temps are changing and YES! we have snow forecast for Friday! (ok so it's only a 20% chance with rain before and after..but it's still snow! LOL)

Now that I have my card made for the day (who am I kidding... think I'll just make one? LOL), I can start my pies...mmmm, apple and pumpkin and the rest of my Thanksgiving preparations. I'm sure many of you are doing the same!!

This is today's Sketch Challenge on Splitcoast using Peace and Joy, release date Dec 1, from Our Daily Bread designs.

SC256 Snowflake PeaceThis is emboss resist. I really hated to cover up the base because it was so pretty! (ok, so you know I'm going to have to do another one! lol)
I started by stamping the snowflakes with Versamark randomly over white cardstock, then sprinkled with white embossing powder and heat set.
Then I took Broken China and Faded Jeans Distress ink and sponged the entire piece. The embossing resists the ink and makes your image POP! (I wiped the piece just to make sure no ink residue was left on the snowflakes)

I traced the sketch over my light table and cut out the curvy strip, randomly stamped the sentiment from the same set, with Versamark and repeated the embossing powder/heat set step.

My layered pieces are plain white using a Copic marker that matched the DCWV pattern paper, the curvy strip was cut with scallop scissors.

I embossed several pieces of cs using Spellbinders Snowflake Wonder and layered them.

I love the challenges...everyone is going to have unique Christmas cards this year...rather than the make 10 of this layout, 10 of that and so on.................boring! LOL

Okay...so here's one I did yesterday for the Color Challenge. I'm letting you peek again! This is ODBD His Gift, the other set being released Dec 1.

Buttons & Bugs & Poinsettias...oh my!

LSC Butterfly block

Today's Limited Supply Challenge on Splitcoast is to make a Long/Tall card. Why don't I do these more? I love the look! I have two to share with you today.

First, Button Bugs newly released from Angels Landing.

LSC247 Congratzzz It measures 3.5 x 7. Using my light table, I traced the My Minds Eye paper using the printed image as a guide. Then I cut out the pieces and glued them in place. With my piercing tool, I made the holes to actually SEW...yes I did!...on the card!

LSC Butterfly closeupI used variegated embroidery floss. My faux buttons are 3 punched circles each from the base layer, glued together, pierced, embossing ink painted on, clear ep sprinkled and heat set... one more coat of embossing ink and more ep!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

My next card combines the color challenge from this week too!

LSC247 Ps 96 11 This uses the newly released Blessed Christmas from Our Daily Bread designs and Spellbinders Labels 4. Colored with Copics, sponged with Distress inks Mustard Seed, Scattered Straw and Brushed Corduroy. The base is Prism Herbal Garden and the trim is by Prima.

and the inside...

LSC247 Ps 96 insideI used the same size Labels 4 die for the ends, then traced the center part and cut freehand to the ends, layered on Curved Rectangles. It's sponged with Mustard Seed, Scattered Straw, Brushed Corduroy and Shabby Shutters.

The card measures 3.5 x 6.

Angels Landing, a Hop Release and BLOG CANDY!

Nov18 block Nov18 PolarBlockTo celebrate the new releases, from Angels Landing, I'm offering some Blog Candy.

One lucky winner will receive free download links for both of this month's new releases, Polar Bear Cubs and Button Bugs!

We have a winner!!! Here!

To be eligible to win, leave a comment on my Blog Hop post before Sunday November 22, 2009, at 11:00 PM Eastern USA time. I'll use a random generator to pick a winner on Monday November 23. Please remember to leave your email in your comment & check back again then to see if you're a winner!!!

If you got here from Cheryl Walker's blog, you're in the right spot. No worries though if you happened here by chance, Judi starts the hop!

Here's my first card using Polar Bear Cubs.

Nov18 PolarWishes Is he cute or what!! I printed him and the sentiment on one piece of cs, colored with Copics, then I masked the cub and airbrushed the clouds, using a homemade cardboard template. see tutorial

The snow-capped sentiment has liquid appliqué sprinkled with holographic embossing powder (while still wet) and heated to puff it.

I then partially cut around the lower half of the bear so I could add the snow drifts.

Nov18 Polar crop Nov18 Polar snow

On each torn piece of cardstock, I squeezed a thin line of Zip Dry glue then sprinkled with Sugar Dust  from Stamp La Jolla.

My second card uses the cute Button Bugs set. The Button Bugs are designed to work with real buttons, sizes 1/4" and 3/8". The set also includes images of the buttons alone, which can be colored, punched or cut out, punched with a 1/16" hole punch, and popped up to make faux buttons. I tell ya, that Judi thinks of everything!

Airbrushing and the cloud template were used here again. Elmer's Painty pen for the dots on the wings.

A Small Explosion!

Nov13Block

Well, that got your attention didn't it! LOL

In keeping with Angels Landing DT challenge this week, "Think Small", 3 inches or less, I made this little Explosion Box.

Nov13ExplosionBoxOpenLid I used Pierced Pansies and Pierced Violet Leaves. That's the cool thing about digital images, you can size them any way you want! This box measures 2.5 square by 2.75 high. The sentiment is a rubber stamp from Our Daily Bread designs, Friendship.

Nov13Inside  When it's closed up and everything is scrunched together!

Nov13OpenSproingThen, take the lid off and SPROINGGGGG...
it explodes into life!

The Pansies and Violet Leaves are on acetate, the cute little dragonfly buttons are on wire (I wrapped it around a tiny dowel).

Nov13OpenSideAngleThe leaves at the base are a Cuttlebug die, airbrushed with a Copic marker. I cut and scored 2 pieces of K & Company DP the same, then cut the inside down a little so it looked layered. It isn't... I just fauxed it with Copics and a ruler!
Two Spellbinders Decorative Photo Corners on each corner...they overlapped just enough that it looks like one continuous piece!

Nov13BoxTop2All of the flowers and leaves are colored with Copics, pierced and painted partially with Angel Wings Shimmerz. Flower Soft is in the center of each one. Only the lid flowers and leaves did I faux stitch with a fine tip pen.

I cut around some of the petals and also broke down the paper fibers of the leaves and flowers by curling and bending, so they'd have more of a natural appearance.

Christmas Past (My Niece, the genius!) and a Sketch

SC254block I had a feeling when I got that Tim Horton's Pumpkin Spice (medium size) at around 4PM... I might pay for it later...and I don't mean with cash! Yup, it's after 6AM and I've yet to go to bed!! LOL

Today's sketch on Splitcoast is another winner! Gosh that Roxie is good!! Here's my first card...isn't this shepherd cute!! Thanks again, Toshypooh, for this darling Sarah Kay "Noel Shepherd".

SC254 Noel ShepherdIt's colored with Copics, sponged with Distress inks. There's glitter pen on the star.

My second card incorporates yesterday's color challenge on Splitcoast.

SC254 Peace On EarthI stamped the poinsettia, from the newly released Our Daily Bread designs Luke 2:11, with Distress Aged Mahogany then immediately sprinkled clear embossing powder and heat set. I used Twinkling H2O's to watercolor it, traced the size of the front panel and carefully cut around the leaves and flower with my craft knife. I also cut around some of the petals for added dimension.
I sponged around the vanilla cardstock with Aged Mahogany. And there's some more of that yummy
SEI designer paper!

SC254block2The verse is stamped with Distress Black Soot, then I sprinkled on Ranger Enchanted Gold EP and heat set. It's soooo shimmery!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Okay, now for Christmas past...and why my niece, Amanda is a genius! This picture has been circulating around the internet. Have you seen it? I've gotten it twice in less than a week...one email was from my friend in Connecticut! The picture was taken in California!

clip_image001

So, why is this picture so special? Because that's Amanda's house! Yeah, the one with the DITTO! LOL!!
I only wish I'd saved her Christmas card (08 when she did this), showing her boys standing out front with the "Yeah, that's our can't-squeeze-one-more-lightbulb-anywhere neighbor" look on their faces!!

Of course, she is MY niece, so I'm sure her creativeness came from MY side of the family! LOL

So, when your friends ask if you've seen the "Ditto" house... you'll know the real story! And for fun, please tell me where you're from if you've received the Ditto house.
