Bringing You Lasting Joy

IC204 blockToday's Inspiration Challenge on Splitcoast was a no-brainer for me! As soon as I saw the Poinsettia Porcelain Plate I knew what I was going to do!

IC204 Christmas JoyThis is a 4.25x4.25 card. I stamped the poinsettias from Blessed Christmas first and colored with a mix of Prismacolor pencils and Copics and colored all around them with an olive Copic. Then I stamped the poinsettias from Luke 2:11 on another piece of cardstock, colored with Copics and cut them out.

Next I gave it all a spritz of Pearl Glimmer Mist by Tattered Angels, popped up the cut out flowers, punched leaves from Prism Spring Willow med and glued them in place. For the flower centers, I put a dab of Liquid Pearls by Ranger and added some gold seed beads.

The verse is from Christmas Verses. All these images are being released tomorrow at Our Daily Bread designs. The Design Team has a huge blog hop with fabulous prizes tomorrow!! So be sure to stop by!

Have a wonderful weekend!!

and used
Season's Tweetings from Angels Landing.

It's colored with Copics then I masked it and airbrushed the background.
Here's the AL blog where you can see what else the DT did today!

sc252 block odb

I love to see the store displays of poinsettias at Christmas!

Here, I used Christmas Verses and Blessed Christmas, 2 of the 3 new sets coming Nov 1 at
Our Daily Bread designs.

SC252 Lasting JoyI masked and stamped the flowers, colored with Copics and then gave them a spritz of Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist (pearl). The paper is from SEI and Prism. I colored the Mark Richards pearls with a Copic marker to match.
Oh  yeah, and it’s the sketch on Splitcoast today.

I’m really enjoying making my Christmas cards this year!!
Gee, how many down and how many more to go? LOL

And They Shall Be Comforted

IC203 block2

Today’s Inspiration Challenge on Splitcoast is from a fabulous site, Anthropologie,  with so many ideas for inspiration…and if my wallet could afford it, so many things I’d love to buy!

I decided to go white on white with this beautiful Lacy Grove Canister.

IC203 blockUsing various Spellbinders dies and a Cuttlebug embossing folder, this is what I came up with.

IC203 Shall Be ComfortedWith Heartfelt Sympathy from Our Daily Bread designs. Clear Oregon Raindrops are from Pink Hedgehog.

Since I cleaned house yesterday, and cracked my little toe last night (ouch!!)…I think I shall take the day off and do nothing but knit and stamp! Sounds good to me!

Enjoy your day where ever you are and as always…..

A Hundred and Plenty is ALL They Need to Know!

quilted drops

We’re getting new health insurance and today someone had to come out to take our blood pressure, “sample” in a cup, height, blood sample…and weight. Now, c’mon! That’s just plain depressing! Why couldn’t she just put down 100 and plenty and be done with it! Sheesh!

To console myself and feel better, I had to make a card and eat a box of chocolates!
Ok… so, I just made a card, no chocolates hrmmph!

My good friend Heidi, over at Pink Hedgehog, sent me some of these Oregon Raindrops…she dyes them herself! What a deal and so many colors! Plus I got some new Spellbinders (labels 9) from her…I had to play!

The Ways To Use It challenge yesterday was “quilting” in one way or another, and today’s Limited Supply challenge was to have a “girl” on the card……………….and NO pattern paperOOPS! guess it won’t qualify for that challenge! haha

LSC243 Quilted Feel BetterI used Melanie’s Inspiration Mosaic from Gina K as a guide on a piece of white cs and cut each piece of paper to fit the rectangles. I didn’t bother notching out pieces, just glued them over top of each other in the correlating spaces! I used a fine tip artist pen to
re-define the block lines and to make the faux stitches after piercing the holes.

The pink layer is Copic’d using the same color as Riley’s flower. Riley is from Whipper Snapper. While she was in the Nestie, I used my dauber and sponged.

Oh, and by the way…see those crooked stitches? Another reason why I don’t quilt! This is as close as I’m gonna get!

Stitches and Borders…on a Candle

Oct21 Stitched Candle blk

Our Angels Landing challenge today was to use the Faux Stitched Borders and if we wanted, we could mix in some Seasonal Borders.
click here<------- to see the creations.

I chose to try my hand at printing on tissue paper*, coloring it with Copics, and using my heat tool to melt it onto a candle! (Gina has a good tutorial on StampTv)

Oct21 Stitched Candle1I used the zig-zag faux stitches and just connected the dots with a fine tip marker. The snow flake seasonal border was perfect to go along with these adorable Penguin Chicks. I applied liquid appliqué and glitter foam after it was on the candle

Oct21 Stitched Candle closeupAren’t these guys just the cutest!!

*sample printed on copy paper then carefully taped my tissue paper to the copy paper and printed again

Rejoice and be Glad…

rejoice blk

Absent from the body, present with the Lord…that’s my friend’s attitude since she learned she has stage 4 cancer. Not ruling out miracles by any means…today I made her this card.

TLC243 Rejoice It’s called a Wiper card and you can see a tutorial here on Splitcoast.

Our Daily Bread designs With Deepest Sympathy and With Heartfelt Sympathy, colored with Pebbles Pearlescent chalks. (a very quick way to color!) Prism blush red light/medium and sugar cream, with patterned paper from Provo Craft. Spellbinders, Cuttlebug embossing folders and Martha Stewart border punch finished off my design.

Why not send someone a card and let them know you’re thinking of them today!

A Final Picking…Goodbye Tomatoes

spag sauce closeupSunshine today, but evening temps are promising some freezing digits, so I went through the garden one last time! I managed to pick enough Roma tomatoes, bell peppers and banana peppers to make some sauce.

spag sauce colandarWhile the onions and garlic were sautéing in the olive oil, I ran the peppers through the processor and plopped them in too…ooh the aroma!

spag sauce1

I love my food processor!spag sauce tom processor

spag sauce2Some salt, Italian seasoning and Oregano from Jennifer’s store, and it’s ready to simmer for about 3 hours! WoW! Does the house smell good!!

spag sauce doneWah!! I’m out of Parmesan cheese!!
Mmmmmm, so good even without it though!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Hope you’re warm and toasty in your corner of the world! Call someone you’ve been meaning to call… life is fragile, you never know if you’ll get another opportunity. Pass out some hugs.

Ahhh, I think I’ll have a pumpkin latte…made some pumpkin spice syrup while the sauce was cooking down *wink*.

In Our Thoughts…

LS block

It’s not all about stamping! This simple card was made using a ready made card (actually a Christmas card I saved because I thought it was so pretty!)

Today’s Limited Supply challenge on Splitcoast was to make a card using a store bought card, keeping it clean and simple..CAS.

LSC242 In Our ThoughtsI stamped the dragonfly from With Heartfelt Sympathy by Our Daily Bread designs, added the sentiment from the same set and just embellished it a bit!

The card already had sparkly on the leaves and berries, so I added some stickles to the dragonfly and the punched leaves.

stamps- our daily bread designs ink- adirondack latte paper- prism herbal garden medium other- copics (the dragonfly), stickles, ek success ribbon, martha stewart leaf punch, border punch

Enjoy your Friday!!

Winter Must Be On The Way!

SunflowerBee3_edited-1

Jorden’s sunflowers.
She planted the seeds along the fence in their garden plot that we share here. They grew TALL and were beautiful. I could look out my kitchen window and see them.

The garden has come to an end
*insert evil laughter and me dancing for joy!!*
and with that the end of the beautiful sunflowers!
BUT…

Now when I look out my kitchen window, I see a variety of birds feasting on the seeds….and yesterday I caught these guys!

Notice the amount of seeds in the first picture…about 2 hours later I looked out and this guy was there! Notice the amount of seeds now! I love his FULL cheeks!!

Angels Landing Release Blog Hop!

seasonstweetings easel blockWelcome to the October Angels Landing
Blog Hop
.
If you missed the beginning, head over to
Judi's digi-stamps blog
and follow the links.

Today the Design Team is introducing two new digital image sets for October,
Seasons Tweetings and Penguin Chicks.

seasonstweetings easelSeasons Tweetings, Birdhouse-Large-Framed, is colored with Copics, (and lots of cutting with my craft knife!), layered on DCWV patterned paper. The red layer is colored with a Copic to match the ribbon.

seasonstweetings easel closup_edited-1I used Glitter Foam paint (similar to liquid appliqué) for a snowy look, Liquid Pearls on the berries and Glossy Accents on the ornaments.

seasonstweetings easel side_edited-1 This is an easel card. Basically what you do is make your card then cut a piece of cardstock the exact same size, fold it in half then fold the top in half again. This is the side that will attach to the back of your card back.
You can put a button, brad or any other “stop” for your card front to rest against when it’s displayed, in the center of the base. I just used an ornament with Glossy Accents on it and several layers of cardstock dots glued together to pop it up.

seasonstweetings easel baseHere’s the base.

Okay! Are you ready to Hop some more?!! You don’t want to miss a one because 3 of them have Blog Candy! From here you can head over to Amber Hight. (this is too funny, I have a daughter named Amber…and Amber Hight has a mom named Dawn!)

Enjoy the Hop
and

Monday…A Technique Combo

easelcrpGood morning (or evening, depending where in the world you’re viewing this!). Hope your week is starting off good for you. It’s rather dreary here and chilly! Good day for stamping! *wink*

I combined today’s Technique challenge on SCS, an Easel card <---click for directions, and yesterday’s Featured Stamper, Glowbug my friend Chris…and our CCEE challenge for today, to make a tall card. (mine is just flipped so it’s looooong…hehe) Here is the card I cased.

easelsideHere you see the side of the easel. This is a long card and opens up just like a regular card, but has the easel attached so it can be easily displayed! Cool huh!

FS140 Praying For You Easel I cut out the dragonfly and attached several thin pieces of cardstock to the back (to make it thicker) for my stop in the middle of the easel base.

All 3 new Our Daily Bread designs sets, With Deepest Sympathy, With Heartfelt Sympathy and Praying for You were used. (I only inked up part of the sentiment)
